This was the first Flash game I had the nerve to show somebody. CMG bought it off me for a nominal fee. I didn't dare release it on NG back then because I felt like it wasn't good enough. Ironically, most of the stuff I've released since then has been much worse, so when I found the old swf tonight, I decided to just submit it. I figure it's probably worth at least a green score.

As the title suggests, gameplay is extremely linear. You'll pretty much fight the same squadrons of ships on ten different planets. Your ship has a standard pea-shooter weapon, a life bar, and some extra lives. Each planet has a boss which I think is the best part of the game. The game's content is generated procedurally, and the game loops forever with some slight increases in enemy firepower.

Unfortunately, there are no powerups, no plot, no story, no ending, and very minimal music. Hopefully you'll have a little fun with it anyway. I think for such a linear game, it's as polished as I could make it.

"Too Repetitive"

This is fun for about ten minutes, and then you start to think, "is there any point to this?" Each level is the same, basically, with the same enemies, except with a different scrolling background and boss at the end. The bosses take waaay too many hits to die, and have really predictable firing patterns.

This is what Konami's "Raiden" would be if instead of being the most fun arcade upscrolling shooter ever, it had been forced to simplify itself into level after level of the same thing over and over.

It's a nice concept, but it needs work to improve playability.

"Never thought any body could mess this up..."

Not to be rude, but I am honest when it comes to newgrounds reviews.

Enemies were the same, over and over again, bosses were boring and took to long... and the big thing I wanted to see that is in every other one of these kinda games, were the upgrades. That is what makes an up down shooter, they are always the original single, to double, to quadruple, then sides and missiles coming out... but this just had NOTHING. Not even a special to clear the level. The enemies patterns were dull and predictible and never could kill you no matter how far you got. I'm sorry, but this is not a good game.

"Certainly a classic style shooter."

This game is good, but it could use a few things. For one, having a score for how many units you down would be great. The addition of a few power ups here and there would fit well, and a health meter for bosses would certainly help.
