Ah. Finally, I have finished this. I started back in April and Just today, put the finishing touches on it.

Talking blox was a comic series started by my friend back in 2004. It revolved around me and my friends in many different comedic situations. Me and my friend (Kweaks on NG) were both big writers of these comics, and just this year, after getting Flash, I began to work on a movie based on one of my epic 5 page comic volumes.

Well, about this movie: Mike (the solid white block) is angered by a kid who lived down the street. He went to his friend Patrick (the white block with the shirt-thing on) Patrick suggested Mike to see a Homino-Vulpes (fox-man) named Ivan Anotov. Mike talked with Ivan and placed a hit on the kid. Ivan went and did the dirty work, but the kid annoyingly and miracuosly survived. Mike was furiated and got Ivan to lose his job. Along with that main storyline for this episode, smaller random things happen here and there.

I endured roughly 3 months of animating and 1 month of waiting for voice actors. I see this movie as a timeline of my animation skills. At the first two scenes, my animation was not so good, then the third scene marked my transition in better skills by the time I reached scene 4. There may be a few animation glitches and sound delays every once and a while, but this is one of my first works.

Resubmitted July 31 2009 with the "Digitally Remastered" version... I really just touched a few things up that bothered me. I removed the intro and added a skip button for the robots part.

-P.S. *sarcastically* I like how it gets like 10 new views per day, but none of them take the time to review.

It might have been better to put the credits at the end. Some of the voice acting was poor.... but other than that it was nicely drawn/animated.

Author's Response:

yeah I agree that I had some bad-quality voice acting (Mike had to use my crappy headset mic to record his lines), and from this movie I have learned how to set it up properly and how to get better quality acting from the feedback that I got. My next movie, which will be the pilot for the Talking Blox series, will be much better in all fields, even the drawing (I got a pen tablet the month after I made this).

It was pretty good.when i heard you made a flash for some reason i expected it to not be very good.but that was funny. The robo-porn was a bit odd though.
The only reason i got a newgrounds account is because you said i should review your movie.and so here we are.I've been wanting to get into flash but it looked hard..and i don't have flash lol.Nice movie though.

"Actually, this was pretty sick."

The music at the scene select screen was a bit scratchy but I didn't hate it. And you can't go wrong with those blood fx either. Very clear and sharp details, good plots... I like the work.

"I cant wait for next one"

This is a really good episode its got enough ,to keep you wanting to see more just right.

Graphics.8/10 The look of this is highly polished in the intro ,the block white Mike he looked very good. The close up of him was not as good it looked, a little less detailed then the introuction. However the look in this is very good the mouth, moving the blood and ,details are impressive.

Sound.7/10 For the most part i thought the voice actors are very good. While lacking passion in parts, they made me laugh. I thought Ivan the fox russian accent is good a little, sterotype no offense. The voices made me laugh maybe because, of the way they speak. It did sound like aprt from Ivan that they were not emotional .enough in parts a little cold and lacking feelings.

On the most part i thought this is ,a very good first episode. The main ones Mike Stefan, made me giggle. With the two robots having sex it was funny, and the humor dry and clever. I enjoyed the way the little jokes are subtle, but good as it did not make you think. Ivan a interesting character hes seems to be quite ,a dark one with issues. The way he cried was good, as it made me feel for him. The way it ended was good ,i felt this had a great cliff hanger.

I guess what made this not as good, as mentioned is the voice acting. In Mike and Sfefan was lacking ,feeling like you were going through the motions. They did not seem to care much about anthing. i felt Ivan was the most one with felling.

Ovreall this is good for first episode ,maybe put more feeling in to your voices.

Author's Response:

Stefan was the one who was watching the robots, Patrick was the one who refered Ivan to Mike. I didn't expect you to feel sorry for Ivan, but he does have some real problems deep down from his childhood. I now know how the voice acting goes and I can properly coach my actors to produce more believeable lines. Thanks for the review.

"I couldn't care about your characters."

This movie just seemed really slow to me and in the end, I never really cared about the characters.

The Pico-day pre-loader edit was cool.

Why on earth did you blur up so many of the pics in the intro?

The Stefan bit with the robots was kinda lame.

Your blocks were hard to tell apart. Maybe making them different colours - blue, pink, green etc. would help? Or give them more identifying features - not just an item of clothing.

I kinda liked the simplified hair of the receptionist and the assassin was well drawn - specially in the intro and the shot of him eating the burger.

The 'miraculous survival' could have been a decent ending if we'd had some backstory about these characters. We know nothing about this 'little kid' and next to nothing about your other characters. You could have told us so much more - pick an element that sums up who they are as a person or sums up their relationship and show that.

You're asking us to suspend disbelief and just go along for the ride when we don't have a starting point, so to speak.

Your 'I wasn't expecting you' - was that a mistake? Because though it made me chuckle, it didn't make any sense.

Not terrible - the voices were clear, there were some decent elements in the visuals and some song choices were great.

All in all, I think you need to take a step back and try to show us a bit more about your characters. At the moment, I found it hard to care about it all.

Author's Response:

Well, If some people were to be patient and wait for the next few episodes, they might give the backstory on the characters. I blurred the pictures on the intro to give them a realistic effect. The robot scene might be lame to you, The "I wasn't expecting you" was part of the joke because the receptionist said "He's been waiting for you". "This movie just seemed really slow to me..." Time is percived different by different people. You're a pretty picky reviewer, but you need to be patient and wait for the next few episodes, I'm not going to start out the movie with a biography on all of the characters, (Some people are too impatient. They won't take the time to read and learn before they watch, so I'm just trying to make it appeal to most audiences). The next part will explain what the kid is doing to Mike before part 1. It also gives a glimpse into Ivan's past life. I'm expecting the viewer to learn more about the characters simply by watching how they interact, not being presented a whole book. It helps you become connected with them.
