Finally found a preloader tutorial which works! Thanks to you TheInvisibleMan, I have a custom preloader.

This tutorial will lead you through creating a simple, self-contained bar preloader. The method demonstrated is easy and clean, requiring only one frame, one symbol, and a few lines of ActionScript.
Note: this tutorial does assume some basic knowledge about Flash.
Part One includes creating the bar, using ActionScript to bring it to life, creating a play button, and testing the preloader. The next part will cover adding text displays, such as percent outputs, speed monitors, and kbs left displays. I hope to eventually get to writing a preloader game tutorial, but there's a lot of ground to cover prior to that.
This is my first Flash tutorial, and I did my best to make it as complete and smooth as possible. However, if I missed, forgot, or completely obfuscated something, please tell me either through PM or in reviews. I will do my best to correct any mistakes and upload fixed versions.

Finally I get a good tutorial which explains what to do very well! Awesome! Probably the only tutorial on NG which works! Been' looking ages for this.

Wow, a tutorial that doesn't suck, that's rare! It's not perfect, but it explains the actionscript. Next, teach actionscript 3 and how to avoid improperly structured movies that doesn't preload properly.

Unfortunately, I'm still only learning AS3, so I doubt I'm qualified to write a tutorial on it. As to the structuring of movies to ensure they load properly, are you referring to Linkage's "Export on First Frame" option? I was actually planning on covering how to work around that. If you know any other pitfalls I should warn people about, please PM with them :)

This tutorial was very helpful, you toke it step by step explain every lil detail and making sure the viewer didnt do it wrong. The grahics and interface were great also. Awesome job!
