This was my final project for Multimedia Design class. I had fun with it, it's short but sweet.

"It's not too too bad :P"

Well, Like I stated above,
it isn't too too bad, especially
for your first flash.

First of all, I want to point
out that I am impressed with
your animation.

Most people start out with
stick figures that are pretty
terrible.

not only are your mario
animations visually appealing, but
your animation skill isn't too bad
either.

The starting frame I was very impressed
with, it was smooth running-not choppy
like the other people's flash games
I've reviewed.

The game itself though is too short and
lacking a storyline. Also, you could add
an extra effect and put in some "nintendo
64" music hot off the audio portal for the
opening title.

The battle phase should probably have some
fast paced music. That way, the newgrounds
viewers can get a better feel and connection
for the game resulting in-you guessed it,
a higher score.

Perhaps even, the game could have a storyline
in it instead of just "battling Bowser".

For instance, you could have an Rpg where the final boss
is him and the code for the actionscript can be located on
some of the newgrounds tutorials.

Overall I would say it is a short fun game
to play.

"Actually it's not that bad."

I undrestimated this game at first but this is pretty fun! Hey, You know what you should do? Make A sequel with More ways to kill Bowser. Like Maybe Have Mario Grow Big With The Mega Mushroom or Throw a Bob-omb at him. Keep it up man!

not bad flash, if it weren't for the shot gun bit it won't be funny.

"meh."

The fact that you could select stuff (3 things...boo!) was interesting enough. But the lack of audio and lackluster animation made it just bad.

"Could use some improvements."

date: June 4, 2008

It's not "terrible", not by any means, but if you want to develop a good game out of this there are quite a few improvements that you could, and that I think you should, make to this game.

First of all, you could definitely use sound. For example, since you're using Paper Mario characters, why not the music from Paper Mario as well? Fitting music can add to any submission, and this one as much as any soundless submission I've yet seen.

Next suggestion: more moves. Fireballs, jump kicks, and guns are all good and well, but the addition of more moves (Bob-ombs, Koopa shells, Mario's hammer) would make this a more interesting game by far. And another thing that ties in with that, Bowser should have some moves of his own. Perhaps even make it a full-fledged fight between them, with health bars, counters, and all.

Now for the good things about this game. It's somewhat fun to play (though it is far too short and limited), it's got better graphics than half the movies or games I see on this site, and rather than using verused SNES-style sprites you decided to take the road less traveled and use Paper Mario-type graphics, which is definitely a nice change. But overall it's slightly less than average.
2/5, 4/10.

Author's Response:

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I completely agree with you on all aspects and I actually had similiar thoughts. I intend to add sound first among the many things to fix. It would be on there already but I had been working on the project at school and my time and resources were extremely limitted. However, I'm buying Flash to load onto my home PC and there will be a lot more on the finished work. Consider the submitted Flash a demo. I'll be sure to keep in mind all of your suggestions when working on it in the future.
