Experimental 3D animation made in Lightwave 3D

** ATTENTION: YOU SHOULDN'T BE WATCHING THIS VIDEO HERE. SEE IT ON VIMEO WHERE IT STAYS IN SYNC: http://vimeo.com/6757755

Within the last month I few months I decided I wanted to teach myself how to animate in 3D. After much practice, much playing around and much frusteration I have this.

I made this with an intention of it to be more of an artistic piece then a truly specific story. The interpretation is yours.

Very cool, great shadowing effects.

A lot of work went into this and it shows. I truly hope you decide to put a short story together with some voice acting. Sorry for the 9 of 10 stars because of the lack of voice and story. But, keep going and maybe someone from the movie industy might take notice in the future. If you keep going that is.

Creatus responds:

Though I agree the animation could have a more structured story, I don't believe voice acting is at all necessary in any way to have extraordinary animation.

That was intensly magnificant.

That's right, TWO big words! IN A ROW!! lol, sorry.

I thought the animation was incredible, I didn't get what it was about but it still looked really cool. You have better graphics then a Spongebob Game (sorry to draw such a shitty comparison), which while it isn't much, IS still considered a professional video game. That was sweet. I could tell the whole part of the video was the graphics, thats why I only took one star off as opposed to multiple ones.

And yeah, that hand is very similar to the mario boss, but hey, a hand with an eye in it's palm is classic.

Creatus responds:

Yes it is, appearing in various major relegions and cultures throughout history. Its meaning is always the same: All seeing & All powerful.

Amazing

I'm sure I've used that word a lot in my reviews, and now I'm using it again.
Uh, its great that its 3d and everything, but our heroes walking really bothered me. Now, I don't know if thats some weird intentional thing, but it really didn't look right at all to me. And just because its 3d doesn't mean that its the apple of god. Although the hand thing was really nicely animated.
I also really don't get the end, but I'm philosophically retarded so thats my fault.
Overall, not bad, but not AWESOME SUPER.
p.s. did anyone else get reminded of Mario 64 by that hand thing?

Creatus responds:

Walk cycles are some of the toughest things to animate, so mine was extremely primitive at weak. Something I'm very aware of. And with the Eye in Hand, thats a symbol thats outdated Mario 64 by centuries.
