Surface Texture
If you've got a sec, submitting this to the Experimental Collection would be a lovely thing to do :)
Surface Texture is a project I've been working on for a little while, and I'm happy with how its evolved and come along. Before starting it, I knew how to mask, but didn't really have an entire understanding of it, so I played around and found that by masking different layers of pattern for different body parts, you could cause a fairly interesting, cut-out effect to occur.
So I kept playing around, had the guy walk a few steps. It takes a lot longer to animate like this because you have to draw each limb separately, and lock/unlock different layers all the time. Eventually I figured I would end it, so I had him climb into the desk, and I thought I would just stop there and put on a preloader and submit it up. Once I watched it through like that, it really didn't seem complete enough. I know a lot of my stuff ends kind of dumbly, but I do try. :) SO I didn't want it to go to waste, so I added on the section in which he hops around as a pink guy as sort of a metaphor for how people change in their situations.
After that I decided to have him travel into space, indefinitely. I wanted it to show that journeys don't always end, and that they don't need to. Frankly I'd be happy, blissfully climbing ever higher into unknown blankness.
People who map space must be quite proud of themselves.
ITS TIME FOR STATISTICS! I just like doing these, it means I can look back in a year or two and be like, hey look! THATS how many symbols I used! You know. :P
2038 Frames
84.9 seconds
24 FPS, 720x480
112 Library Items, so thats like, movieclips, bitmaps, stuff like that.
Im really happy with how this turned out. I loved making it, and I'm sure I'll do more like it in the future, its a fun process, especially when you're using like, 30 layers of masks.
All of the music was self composed, it'll be up in the audio portal soon as well if you'd like to use it. It isn't there yet because since I haven't submitted any audio work, they have to 'approve' me, so that Im not some audio thief who STEALZ!
It would be cool if Newgrounds had a 'collage' collection. I don't think there's enough content for one at this point, but in the future it would be kind of interesting. THAT SAID, If you wouldn't mind submitting this to the EXPERIMENTAL collection, I would be very happy.
Thanks for watching!

Really Good Concept :)
The music, the "things" that happen in the movie are impresive. It's a short movie, but a good experimental concept. I really like it, it's different from the regular movies of NG, in a way. :D
