it was amazing...but something's missing

first of all, the ending was disappointing. i figured i'd have to make some sort of last stand when i finally got to union city. instead, it ends as soon as i get there. this struck me as weird, almost as if something was supposed to happen, but didn't.

the intro cutscene was amazing. i love how it takes you right from the last game, straight into this one. generic, yes, but still executed spectacularly.
and i love how you still have the same guy as before, except with a big beard :D

overall, i loved it. but its missing that something special that the first one had. that certain, je ne sais quoi that cant be explained.

....wait!! i think i just figured it out! because this game is so much more expansive that the first one, you dont get as immersed in the story. the first one was straight to the point in the gameplay, but everything else completely sucked you in and gave the feeling that you really are a survivor. being able to read the diary every day made it more personal. in this one, the whole 'moving from town to town' this kinda detatches you from what make the first one so great.

amazing job, but this just seems like a jab in the chin to followup the haymaker to the head that the first game was

Excellent sequel

I loved the first, I love this one even more.

I really like all the new additions, you clearly listened to the comments made about the first one. The new weapons are cool, I like the traps as well as the weapon choice for other survivors.

It's a bit harder than than the first, which I guess is good because the first was almost too easy. It should take most people a couple attempts at least to get through it.

Best zombie game on the net IMHO...

Not perfect... but still great

A very worthy sequel indeed! I liked the increasingly ragged look of our hero, as well as the setup. When will medical workers ever learn to leave zombie infected people alone?!

There's so much this game does right I don't even know where to start. Other reviewers have gushed countless times ahead of me, so I'll let their words speak for themselves. As for what I liked most, The look, feel, responsiveness of control and tension are much increased in this game. The time limit also makes the game much scarier as you risk being left behind in zombie country as you desperately try to make it to safety.

HOWEVER... there are still things that need work. First, you totally got rid of personnel management! That's terrible, and illogical! It makes it almost useless to collect survivors except for repairs (which isn't nearly worth the loss in weapons) and very slow firing defense assistance (who can't be moved and fire along an impossibly narrow arc). Why can't I send several people to explore several buildings if I have them recruited? I was able to do this before in Last Stand 1. It doesn't make sense to remove this. At the very least you could have given me an extra hour or so per person rescued to represent the increased efficiency. You could balance this by requiring more supplies to move on if you have survivors in your group.

I'd also like to point out this totally ruins the "Persons gone missing while searching" counter. I never lost any one, not a single one in countless playthroughs. Either remove that or make survivors able to go off on their own.

Luck is also a rather heavy factor, which I don't like. Luck was prevalent in the old game too, as to whether or not you'd find a weapon, for example, but here it seems much more unpleasant. Zombies do not seem to follow any sort of scaling curve or difficulty. If I go to the big city from the first stage, one time it might be incredibly hard and monitor punching, swear-word screamingly impossible, even in the first stage another time they might come at me very, very slowly, even if I'm at Fort Tran. Instead of leaving it up to random chance, couldn't it be possible to pattern the waves in a way that makes sense? Like so many armed running zombies at one wave in the big city?

And going back to the survivors, they're USELESS! They don't fire their weapons quickly enough, they don't aim accurately enough, they can be killed WAY too easily (or not, again, it's REALLY random if that guy with the machete will kill your gunner). The player is invincible, and I don't know to feel about that. The possibility of being injured should come up for the hero.

There are bugs... The map, diary, and weapon select pop up every so often out of sequence and become really annoying.

Fort Tran is the most out of place location to visit. There's no good reason to go there at all, since you can collect supplies in earlier cities and bypass it entirely. It's actually out of the way and is a hassle to go there, which is a shame since it has the coolest weapons. While I'm talking about the map, why can't you show on the map how many supplies it takes to go from location to location? it would be nice.

Finally, The game kind of just... stops. This isn't an ending. There should be some sense of accomplishement, and there isn't any.

I liked the first game but this one takes the Cake. I thought it was very well done. I was disappointed at first because it seemed like the same game as the first but it changed fast. It was easier to find survivors and I had most of the weps by the third or so city. All these changes made the game more fun and a more believable as a zombie story, because you moved around... and not just stayed in one place. All the changes were neat but I believe it made the game easier. By the end I had a fully armed platoon... The Traps I thought were a cool addition but I never used them... If anything they got in the way. No new weapons it seemed.. I am not sure because I did not beat the previous game.
I like this one more than the first but I thought it was easier. However, the new additions make it possible to play a longer game because this game is addictive.

Looks good, plays good, and gives me zombies to kill. A good way to kill time.

frikkin awesome!

few problems though,bear with me.first of all,i never got to use the mini-gun because i could not find it!it was too dark in the weapons screen.also,way too hard!it starts sending in zombies in immediately before you can even see!not enough new weps. either.the .357 doesnt do enough damage.these are just a few things that could be improved in the next one.p.s.please include the xm8 assault rifle in the next one.and also,gameplay should be at a single base with more options,upgrades for weps and acctualy being able to go into houses and physically look for stuff to stick on your barricade.being able to have like 50 guys at a base and eventually seting up more bases and taking back the mainland and eventually setting up a safe zone.p.p.s.srry for such a long review,tls3 or bust!
