Thanks for the front page Tom!

Happy Star Day 2008!

Here is the flash you've all been waiting for. "Night in Hotlanta" is an immense 13 minute long megaflash that includes Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Dailytoon #400. This flash has been 6 months in the making, 4 months since the release of Part 1.

It is undoubtedly the most effort the Star Syndicate has ever put into a flash animation. It is also most likely the LAST official Star Syndicate flash collab ever; after this, we will still be around but no longer as a crew. The style and graphics of each part varies based on the artist that animated it, but the story remains constant.

Please be patient while the flash loads, it is 13 MBs so it should take awhile. But trust me, it is worth the wait.

This is a DVD edition so there are some special features, including scene selection and voice actor commentary. During the movie, right click for playback controls.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this. Its an incredible relief to finally get it done. Enjoy!

Some of the art was just too ugly for me

I liked the story, voice acting, and a couple of the artists. However, most of the artwork in this looked like it was drawn by third graders. I'm assuming you guys are good friends, which is why people of such different skill levels would collaberate together. The comradery I see between everyone who made this is very inspiring, and I have to say whoever was the director behind this is a genius to work with the talent that he had available.

Also, the art style that looked like Spongebob Squarepants (when he was getting beat up with the brick, and at the very end when he confronted 3) was perticularly well animated. Good work by that artist.

you got it. some of the drawings may be comparatively crude, but its less about the quality as it is about each artist's individual take on the story. it would be stupid to exclude someone like roymasta just because he has to draw with a mouse, or redmongoose just because he didnt even HAVE a mouse and was working with nothing but a damn laptop touchpad and a scanner. IMO those parts have their own sort of charm, i don't really care what the NG audience thinks of them.

There were some moments to remember...

OK - the script was unoriginal and very bland. Apart from that, the monotone voice throughout the entire movie barely kept me awake. It was amusing to see the differences in art and skill... frankly, almost all of them seemed to be done by an elementary kid. Story was predictable and the jokes were delivered poorly. But overall, you got your story through(which is still something). Keep working on it!

ok.. honesty

i think that some of the animations were allot better then some other ones in this flash, the one that has been screen-shot'd for the picture up there ^ was by far the funniest,
i think there could have been a bit more of a clue as to what that ending was exactly.. i admit, it was cliche, but that doesnt matter because one could say its a
step on the road to making something better.
this was a good flash, and effort was put into this. i can imagine though that
this is probably allot funnier to the guys that made this as theres a huge group effort, so its not fair to just say "its crap" or anything like that, i hope to see
some more of the artists pulling their weight if you do another.

Peace, 10/10

Taito.

the ending is not supposed to make sense, its just a youtube video that we found hilarious
in fact, you're absolutely right about this being funnier to the people who made it than to anyone else. i probably used a few too many inside jokes in the script.

Your Collabs are getting better.

But this is not the flash i have been waiting for.

Its not the different animation styles that bother me, its how badly some of them are drawn, i think because some of those artists slacked off.

I appreciate your effort, so here is a summarized rundown of your NiH

Visuals: 8/10 Good styles which for the mostpart are convincing, yet some are really poorly animated.
Audio: 7/10 Voice acting was passable, the irish guy swearing was funny.
Presentation: 8/10 Good menu and selection features, but the overall movie needed more polish.
Story: 5/10 Tits,Terrorists and a bland ending, least the animation distracted me from the story.

Overall: 8

You need to get a better story, the rest of the issues relate to just making the whole thing smoother.

as i have said, the parts that aren't as well drawn are not that way because the artists slacked off. they are more because of the limitations they were dealing with, drawing with a mouse or laptop touchpad is really gay. i'll admit zerostar did slack off a little bit hahahah

this story wasn't really meant for a general audience. i agree its basically a boring and formulaic premise, but the subtle star syndicate touch is the key to the movie. thats what differentiates it. not a lot of people will pick up on the subtler aspects of this except SS members, which is basically who this was made for

thanks for the review
