I have to be honest and say that I didn't beat this one either, but not because of luck, just not fast enough. It's good that the game returned to it's roots of skill and split second decisions.

No a mouse interface would completely ruin this game for one simple reason. Right click would make it an easy win without you doing jack squat. It's meant to be hard so continual using a "hard" interface. Makes it fun. Also your second one was much harder then this one.
