I have no idea what I just played, 18/10
I know this is not a majority opinion, but this is just what I personally think. I didn't like the game at all, but I see that a lot of people do, so I will try and be as nice as possible. I'm not giving this zero stars to be mean; there is a good reason for it. Also, I respect every person's opinion when it comes to subjective things like this, even when they oppose mine.
The game is way too short. I literally (and I mean literally by it's actual definition) finished the game in less than one minute. If the game was longer (but not too long) and had some previous levels leading into the final boss, I would have given this game at least four stars. A lot of people did, but this game just wasn't my cup of tea. The ending would have made for a really clever game, but the game is so short that it wasn't satisfying at all.
Skip to the end if you just want to cut to the chase.
I thought the game was going to be exciting; my experience was anything but. I was told by the sign at the beginning that "weapons don't hurt the monster," and that I have to "burn the rope above," so I didn't bother trying to hurt the monster with the projectiles at all. Instead, I immediately tried to look for a rope. When I jumped up onto the ledge above the room's entrance, my character automatically lit a torch.
Once the torch is lit, I thought "Alright, now I have to find a rope." About two seconds later, I saw the rope (with a chandelier, but that's unimportant.) When I went to the rope, it burned right on the spot and the chandelier fell, killing the monster."That was a really quick. I wonder what the next level's like," was what I naively thought. The game faded to black and I said, out loud this time, "Was that the end of the game!? There's no way . . . That can't possibly be it." But the game was over, and as soon as I realized that, I was really disappointed.
I might as well have been playing with a baby rattle, because it'd been more entertaining than this game. Playing this game is like playing the first level of Super Mario Bros. and being immediately greeted by "You saved the princess," but shorter. Wheres the fun in that?
Here are some ways in which you can improve the game
1. Make the game longer by adding levels building up to the boss. Anything to add to the length. To me, if a video game is as linear as this and can be beaten in less then 5 minutes on the first try, it is over before I have a chance to enjoy it, and is thus boring.
2. If you still want to keep the games brevity, remove the signs that tell the player that the weapons are useless. That way the player figures out how to complete the game on there own and the ending would be more satisfying. Instead, this game feeds the player the solution, and the player already knows what to do. That's like getting a jigsaw puzzle for your birthday, but the puzzle is solved and glued together.
Anyway, I personally didn't like the game, but I respect those that do.
