its too plain....
i personally love these kinds of games. the music was great effects were too but having to use the arrow keys to aim allowed for very limited dircetional shooting. i think the only thing that needs to be changed here would be to click and hold with the mouse and it shoots in the direction you hold.
I have to disagree with the average rating.
The music, sound effects, graphics, etc are awesome. But the gameplay kind of slips. Because movement and aiming are completely separate, and the game does all the turning for you, the game is either incredibly difficult to grasp (because of the unnatural control scheme) or horribly easy (because you can just move around and aim at the enemies). Usually, setting the arrow keys for aiming results in the former, while setting the mouse for aiming results in the latter. In either case, the game is boring.
There's a couple ways that this game can be fixed:
1. Make players steer and thrust the ship, instead of just telling which direction to go. The keyboard aim control should be similar (turning a "cannon" to decide direction of shooting), and the mouse (if set) should automatically turn the cannon in a similar manner to the way the current movement system works.
2. Use directional controls to turn the ship in the same manner that it does now, and have a Thrust button for movement and a Shoot button to shoot in the direction the ship is pointing in.
Doing either of those would make this game much more fun than it currently is.
