I'v been told to inform you that Shift 2 is now out :D

Thanks for all the positive feedback from everyone, and a special thanks to everyone at Newgrounds for showcasing SHIFT.

Hi guys, here's a short game showcasing a concept the came to me a few weeks back. It's a puzzle platformer with a literal twist to the gameplay mechanics :D
Theres no proper way to describe it, so you'l just have to experience it for yourself.
There are a number of reasons I like this game, firstly its allowed me to pay tribute to Valve software's Portal in my own special way, and finally given me an excuse to get one of Dan Paladins jams into one of my games and have it fit perfectly :p
So please, enjoy, and if it's well recieved but people would like it longer, I'm always up for sequels :)

Ah, Shift. A game series I have fond memories of. But how does the original hold up? Well, it's still a great flash puzzle game, but there are clear signs of it being a first installment - most notably the length, which is paltry both in terms of the series, and as a standalone puzzle platformer.

That being said, the puzzles whilst simple are fun enough, and the writing (what little there is) never failed to bring at least a chuckle - although the Portal references do date it a bit. Luckily I like Portal a lot ;) Continuing the positive notes, the controls are tight (if a bit stiff at times) and the background music, although repetitive, is enjoyable given the short duration.

Overall, I recommend Shift, particularly to newcomers of the series, as it's an excellent showcase of the main premise behind the games. Just be aware of its length, and the relative simplicity compared to later games. It's not a game I'll come back to often myself, but it's got its place as a foundation for greatness.

This is a really good review. I agree with it. Though it's not aged great.

The concept of the game is amazing, but the controllers are a little clunky, and the music gets REALLY repetitive.

The game has a fun concept and smooth jazz in the background works. I like it.

I could identify some? Portal references like Now You are thinking with Shifting. Nice game and design, quite challenging and those who love puzzle games can definitely try this game out and the other sequels. This game also goes well with You Spin me Right Round. Those who gets headaches easily also shouldn't play this game. Overall, it is a good game.

I have been a fan of shift for a LONG time... I haven't played it in a while though. When I found it on newgrounds I was soooo happy!
