The fifth episode of the Submachine series. This time we go back to the very first submachine ever built - historically speaking. It was created by an unknown scientist in the early 20th century. This is the place where it all started.
5: the Root
The fifth game in the always incredible Submachine series, is once again, mind blowing. At this point, I kind of figured out what will happen from now on, same environments, same creepy atmosphere, and of course, more Submachine... well, I found that all the classic elements from Submachine 4 were implanted into the fifth, and that the spoon is pretty much gone forever. I loved the originality of Sub5, waking up in a lab that has a portal remeniscent of the other portal in Sub4, except, there's only one location; The Root. The very first Submachine ever built(So to speak), and looking all around with nothing to aid you but a wrench, which gives the game a classic horror point-n'-click feel. There's another transporter you find, which uses cyphers, and are confusing to use, but you get the hang of it. Secrets are also back, although, they're even harder to find than their predecessors, as there's only 5, and the unlockables aren't anything special this time around. I have to say, the ending was interesting to say the least, and I expected something like Sub2's ending, considering there is an obvious Submachine 2 reference. The sound and setting kick ass as always, and the mini puzzles are still there, as with every Submachine game. Overall, this game may not be the breath of fresh air that Submachine 4 was, but what it has in art, sound, and atmosphere, Submachine 5 is a grade-A follow-up to Sub4. All we can do now, is wait for Submachine 6.
this was def. the best one yet!
Best online game puzzle ever
its like myst and its always bigger then just beating it once
Best series of PNC games on Newgrounds...
Once again kudos to a fun and interesting several hours spent trying to figure out all the little clues and buttons. While this one was nor the hardest or longest of them, it was still just as exciting to play and I can't wait for the next one. One thing to note, a bit of a glitch I suppose, is that after you beat the game and you have the option of going to the secret location, if you use the cipher plates then go to the location, that plate forever disappears and you can't get back to one of the areas.
another good job
Though I did not get as much satisfaction out of playing Sub5 as I did Sub4, I still found this game to be quite enjoyable.
An addictive and challenging simple math puzzle game
