Hm...

Well it wasn't extremely visually pretty to look at, and I had a problem with the audio for some reason I even put my speakers to max and set the in game audio higher as well and it was still way to low. I wasn't 100% happy with the fact that I couldn't pick where I wanted the units to be sent considering I lost because a random enemy spawned at the very edge where NONE of my units (was probably just me and my luck) would ever shoot or spawn I give it a 4 work out a few bugs and such and I'm sure it'd be a nice defense game :) at.javascript:submission_controller.G etReviewController().SaveReview();

A good game that could be great

This game has rather interesting gameplay. The randomness does add interesting elements to the game and I fully agree that removing it would ruin the game. On the other hand, it also adds several elements of frustration. Firstly, it is not really easy to effectively choose to go after flags (or not). While selecting attackers with differing range and speed can impact flag acquisition, the luck factor is too high, considering that collecting flags and attaining the money for them for use in future levels is practically a necessity. Personally, I'd rather be rewarded for having flags at the end of a level by getting to keep some of them. The best strategy in a level where one has superior firepower seems to be to make sure not to send too many fighters to keep the enemy from being incapable of killing them before they kill the general. Also, there is a motivation to complete the level as slowly as possible so as to A) collect enough flags and B) earn more money from factories. Even if the player ends up with a setup wherein the player is pretty much guaranteed to win, the player will delay to make more money. Awarding (factory level)*time left (i.e. the money the factory would have earned) for level completion would mitigate this aspect.

A second issue with the game is that it is not very pleasing in terms of visuals and such. The gameplay is fun but the graphics and menus are poor. It is not always immediately obvious what the different purchases wlll do, but a tooltip for each (which could be disabled) with a description would fix this.

By the way, as far as I've seen nobody on NG has used Daniel Cook's free Hard Vacuum graphics, maybe you could just use those. I admit they're sprites and thus not ideal.
