This is an adaptation of the ALIENS board game made by Leading Edge Games into Flash.

It is a hard game, but there are only 3 missions. Enjoy the difficulty.

Good luck.

TIPS:
Flamer kills don't have acid spray. Use them on aliens up close, but when the alien is on a marine, it's too late for flamers. Use melee (fist icon) to try to throw the alien off.

Pistols are almost useless. These marines should just move or help melee an alien off one of his buddies.

Grenades kill aliens 1 square away from the blast square, but injure marines up to 6 squares away. Plus, there is a chance the grenade will miss the target square by one, so plan carefully if you want to use grenades.

NOTE: It was designed for 1024x786, so I'm sorry if it's hard to make out some details in 800x600.

aliens

pretty awesome a few problems.... u should make it so that aliens can't apear in the start zone on the first turn. and can someone tell me what the point of flaming the ground is?

homedrone responds:

An oversight in my programming makes the flame ground a little less useful than it should be, but you can still use it in a few places. Key being to hold the aliens back in the Operations bottleneck before you close the door.

Use it right and you can even kill the queen with Ripley.

My error is that the aliens should not be able to move diagonally through the corners of flame and other obstructs like other flame and walls.

Awesome!

A comment though...
explosions... I don't know how big they are so I don't know how to watch out for my guys dying as a result of them. Could you make an indicator for that?

homedrone responds:

Marines are injured up to 6 squares away from the target square. Also the grenade might deviate one square (about a 30% chance). So to be absolutely safe, keep your marines 8 squares away.

I love Aliens!

Awesome game dude! It's one hell of an ass kicker though, holy shit. I've only played it like 3 times so far, so I'm still learning. I love how you put the original Aliens music into the game, really makes you feel like your in the movie. Maybe you could expand on the levels in the future?

Superb

Wow. Atmospheric (you'll need to increase your screen brightness a little), and lots of strategy required. The difficulty level is just about right, too: you never feel it's easy yet with some thought and a bit of luck it's certainly possible. For those who think otherwise, see the screenshot linked below.

The only downside is that the AI is a bit predictable at times, and the aliens are very bad at finding their way past walls. It can be possible to leave a marine to attract the attention of a number of the aliens whilst your other troops walk right past them. A human controlling them (might this be an option) would eat that marine very swiftly.

On the plus side, it's huge fun, particularly when Apone pulls off a really great turn (flame an alien, pull another off one of his buddies and flame it too) or when some careful play keeps all your marines alive despite some bad luck.

More scenarios would be great, plus I think you should implement the ammo rules, or at least limit the number of grenades a marine can carry. The second level is a bit on the easy side with infinite grenades: I can beat it without a wound about 95% of the time. I could probably do it anyway, but it would be much harder.

One bug: if you keep all your marines alive through the first level, some of the result lines disappear off the bottom of later results pages. A scroll bar would be helpful. See this screenshot of the final level, completed with all marines alive and unwounded, Newt and Burke rescued and (if you look closely just to the right of the words Frost and Vasquez), the queen dead.

That took some effort. Thanks for all yours in making this game.

Finally beat Operations

This was the first time I ever beat operations. I actually beat the third mission before completing the second one, which I believed impossible. Barely made it, too. Ripley and Newt were the only survivors. Hicks almost made it, but was too slow reloading.

The only way to beat that mission, as far as I can tell, is to grenade spam the beginning. Try to keep hudson/hicks or vasquez/hicks alive. Have vasquez or hudson unlock/seal the door, since their accuracy kind of sucks.

This is a really, really great game. I've played it a lot, and you should be applauded for reproducing it. I'm wondering if there's a rulebook out there I could purchase, or if someone could *ahem*, reproduce it for the public.
