EDIT 11 (5/1/09): This is an old game, and I no longer have the source files, so no bugs in it will be fixed. However, chapter 3 will be out soon with a much better engine, and it includes 'remakes' of the first two chapters.
People keep mentioning two bugs:
- If the Z or X keys don't work, either to close menus or for some other reason, make sure CAPS LOCK is OFF.
- If your saves keep getting deleted, please UPDATE TO THE LATEST VERSION OF FLASH PLAYER; the very latest one. Here's the download page: http://www.adobe.com/prod ucts/flashplayer/

Hopefully MARDEK 3 will be out in maybe a month or two. Sorry to keep you all waiting so long!

EDIT 10 (4/3/08): Many people have reported a bizarre save-related bug where, if they load their game, they appear to be in a green/black 'void', where the sprites are visible but the background tiles aren't.
For ages I just assumed this to be specific to peoples' computers or something, since I'd never encountered it myself, but just recently I found out what causes it!
It happens when you save while standing between tiles. Whenever you walk in a direction, you move one 'tile', and only ever stop in the middle of tiles. Which is why just tapping a direction button will move you a considerable distance. However, apparently you can open the menu before you complete a move between tiles, and if you save like that, your location will get stored as a fraction value, which buggers up the rest of the map when loading.
...Anyway, to prevent this, just wait until your party has stopped moving instead of being impatient and opening the menu in the middle of walking!
I'll fix the bug so it CAN'T happen in an update sometime.

EDIT 9: v1.2.0911 fixes the Smite I bug with Vehrn and the bug that causes all your inventory slots to be filled with instances of a single item when you load a game from Chapter 1.

EDIT 8: v1.2.0910 is the latest version, which should fix an odd bug that arose in the last update that causes monsters to sometimes be 'undefined'...

EDIT 7: Fixed a bug which prevented you from using the Switch button thing. (Will Newgrounds be annoyed at me making these constant re-uploads?!)

EDIT 6: More bug fixes. The latest version is v1.2.0909 (it may take some time for Newgrounds to update the file).
This version fixes all of the bugs that people have reported, I think!

If you have any questions or problems relating to this game, join my forum at http://forum.fighunter.co m! Most common problems have probably been addressed extensively in threads there already, but you can join and start a new thread to ask whatever you want!
Or to discuss your thoughts or theories relating to the current or future chapters of MARDEK with other fans of the series. That's always interesting!

At long last! After many annoying delays, the second chapter of MARDEK is released! Huzzah!

If you've not played the first one, I recommend that you find it and do so, or else parts of this may not make sense.

There are many improvements in this chapter, and it's much, MUCH longer. The first chapter only served as a short introduction, but this is a full-length RPG (I'd say there are about '10 hours' of gameplay, but it all depends on the player).
This game is STORY-DRIVEN, though; the action is there to support the story, not the other way around. There's a LOT of dialogue! I'm aware some of you don't like reading and would rather just mindlessly kill things, but... well, thinking should be more encouraged or something?!

All the content in this game (except the sound effects) is by me.
I did all the coding, drew all the graphics, animated all the animations, and composed all the music.

Since this is the initial public release, there may still be some bugs in there somewhere. If you find any, please report them to me so then I can fix them!

Also, this game is probably somewhat challenging. If you can't beat a boss or something, that doesn't mean the game is flawed; it means that you're an inept player, whether you're too arrogant to accept that or not.

"HIlarious and fun to play!"

This game has all of the elements that a good rpg needs, plus a lot more! It has a good plotline, an engaging battle system, optional sidequests, and pokes some fun at itself. Others may say it has cliche elements, but those who play the game can tell that these are supposed to be there because it helps the humor along tremendously. I highly recommend this game.

Too bad the plot constantly vomits the author's opinions on you and has way too many cliche elements.

When the plot sucks in a story-driven game, you know you fucked up.

But it is damn frustrating. Not that I could not find how to see stats of items in inventory and that you can not press "save" with your mouse... The keys are little sucky - if I use WASD, then Z and X are not the best options for me. Another thing - it did not save my games, as I had Chapter 1 saves. When I wrote it in a new save slot, nothing happened and I was unlucky to realise that I had to oversave the first slot... So no save for me when I got the major bug - when I got to the cave with bandits, a random event fight started just as they begin to talk to me. So I am in a fight with a vampire bat and something else and the conversation with bandits ("Lets kill these ones, there must be others here too") overlay the fight. I had to press all the time "x" "Z" "x" "z", so that I would scroll forward the speech, but not to make a move in the fight. Then those 3 bandits joined the fight. I could hit only the vampiric bat, killed him and then I had no more options whom to hit. So we just stand there and look at each other awkwardly. That is when I restarted and realised that it did not save.
Sorry if I sound too angry, but the thing is that it is a great game and all, but these little things really take the joy away and I would really like to play this one :/

Where is the next chapter?
It's been 2 years sense this one was released, does that mean you've abandoned the project?

Please say the answer is "no."
