* For all of the frustrated ones: there's a video walkthrough thread at We Create Stuff > Portal: TFV's forum, and some community help. Good luck :)

We started working on this project a couple of months ago, and now, it is finally done. Lately we've been working on this project none stop, acknowledging if we release it after the real Portal - we fail, and our test will be terminated ( ;). So yes, the last piece of code of this game was programed just a couple of minutes ago. Don't worry - those minutes were on bugs!

Portal: The Flash Version includes over 40 challenging, portals thinking levels, which features almost every feature the real game does, in 2d - energy balls, cubes, turrets and even the famous crusher from the trailer. The game also includes a console to mess around with after finishing the game, or just being frustrated by thinking with portals (Commands are posted in our forums)

portal.wecreatestuff.com

Controls:
Left mouse button - launch a portal.
A W D - movement
Q - launch a blue portal.
E - launch a yellow portal.
R - Close both portals.
F - pick up an object.
~ - open up console (enable through the options)
O - quick quality adjust.
Esc/P - pause game.

Version history:

Note:
The game really is heavy on levels 30 and up. We did our best to optimize it, but if you still have a low frame rate simply change your quality and effect settings.

If you find any bugs, please report.

Great game

Great game. It is much less disorienting than portal because of the firsdt person view. I got to level 40 and gave up but the rest of the game was great, if a little frustrating at times.

The only problem is that objects have a tendency to fall through floors or revert to their starting locations, particularly on later levels.

Superb Adaptation; Level Editor Please :)

This was definitely a great adaptation of Portal into 2D. The guys who made portal said that they made a 2D model of it first - I wonder if it was like this? The only thing I wished you had was it's sense of humor. Of course not everyone is a comdian, but it would have been nice, as humor is one of the great things about Portal (only thing keeping you from a 10).

I was actually thinking about making a 2D version of the game back when I saw the commercials, and I would still love to make an isometric one. Platforming's never been my thing though :(.

I don't know if you could flesh this out a bit more, but I had an idea where you could get the whole "half in on one side, half out on the other" by duplicating the movie clip to the other side, while moving a transparent mask to cover parts, then repositioning the original movie clip and deleting the duplicated one when more than half of you passes through. This is only an idea though - I plan on testing it soon , but seeing as you already have a basic engine of sorts for it, maybe you could try it out and tell me if it works.

Awesome game, make the level editor

This was a great game.

It was fun, and entertaining, with smooth controls and appropriate graphics. You did an excellent job of putting portal in a 2D environment.

I would personally love it if you finished the level editor for this game and allowed users to share content. It would give the game a lot more versatility and playability. This is already a great game, but the editor would ensure that it would stay a popular and great game for a good while yet.

Thanks for all your hard work.

one of my favorite games.

the only problem is (i think) on level 38 where you can skip most of the work and finish it up with ease.
