EDIT 2*I would like to say to all who have appreciated this work: Thank you so much! The audience of this piece is unbelievably suprising. Hmm. Oh ya I would also ask if some of you guys could suggest this to the noir section or mabey serious shorts. mabey together we can get it in, i dunno. thanks alot! :)

EDIT 1*Front page! I love newgrounds! Thank you so much for your support! Also thanks to all who tried desperatly to discover the meaning behind this animation! It makes me feel good! :)*

I planned this one out pretty graphicly in my mind. I had planned the elevator scene before I even started working on scene one. So after about 7 months of off and on work, its done. For this guy, I focused on high contrast and extreme saturation as well as no saturation at all. I also focused on the theme, which may be hard-core invisible to you guys, but I would love to see some reviews which try to guess the moral of the story, so to speak. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

I think I see what you were trying to communicate, or at least my interpretation of what I saw.

I think that it is about a man who commits suicide. He had been a man of God and lived his life by his word. But, in one fell swoop he betrayed him.

By taking his life he not only betrayed his family and his loved ones, but God. God who had breathed life into him and shown him the way. He gave him purpoes and this man decided that the life God had given him wasn't what he wanted, to the point of suicide.

Then comes the dilemma of the elevator. He, along wiht the other spirits reach the elevator. Many will descend and others will ascend. But this man can choose, can he take the penalty for taking a life, his own in this case, or will he face God in heaven.

CAN he face God, doing what he did

i probably just missed it, but... um... is there any explanation to this? it just seemed completely out of the blue to me... then again, i am agnostic, and apparently it's a religious short...

...but really, where did the title come from?

"Tight Visuals"

I would hardly call this preachy. I see here an old preacher who's lost his family, so he walked away from his faith, and took his life. Yet in the afterlife (very nice depiction! Gondolas, Elevators, Ferries), he still went Up.

I've witnessed something similar in my life already (and I suppose this is my interpretation); I don't see why people believe that suicide is an instant ticket to hell. I'm thinking it's a scare tactic used by the Far Right-Wing influences; however justifiable the motive may be, I think it's an incredibly misleading (rather, completely off-base) concept. I don't think God's some sort of prick who wallows over technicalities; I mean, Christ is supposed to mediate that sort of thing, no? Anyway, I come from a religious background, if it wasn't obvious, so that's where I'm coming from with the interpretation. :p

Anyway... the film: it looked nice! Again, I loved how you differentiated between Earth and Purgatory. The sfx were spot-on, and the glow/blur effects were used nicely. However, when the preacher gets on the ferry, the chain-link barrier is severely rasterized, while the man's silhouette is vectored (very smooth). I'm not sure if that's a contrast you were trying to make, but it seemed to take away from the quality of the scene. Overall, it was an excellent short! =]

Heavy and unfulfilling, nothing like a comedy and more like going through hell. Points for the red.
