I've just done a big final update, which includes a difficulty setting and some new maps (on my site). *Newgrounds is now up to date with the new version.
--UPDATE--
Thanks for all the positive responses! Until it got into the spotlight, the score was briefly at #2 on the all-time list, which was pretty cool.

Keep your people happy at all costs while you rebuild civilization. Be an evil dictator or a hippy in this sarcastic take on the future!
This is the advanced sequal to my RTS colony game of 2 years ago.. I made the original to get into College, and this sequal is the first game I've made since graduating, and it's the first time I've tried drawing everything in Photoshop. It's taken FAR too long to complete (50+ pages of code!!!), and I've been away FAR too long.. but I'm back!
---- NOOB TIP ----
When you lose, you can still continue the game! It doesn't matter if you lose while learning.
-- Features --
*18 different buildings
*8 government types (including crazy ones)
*3 unique maps
*Dozens of random (and usually sarcastic) events
*Build roads and bridges
*Control your stupid people with fear and lies!
-- Basic Controls / Notes --
(Most of the game should explain itself)
*Hold your mouse over buttons and stuff for more info
*Use arrows or WASD to scroll the map
*You can only build bridges in shallow water!
*If it runs slowly, click the MENU button on the bottom right and lower graphics. It is also recommended that you close other windows / programs.
*There's even a developer console (press "~"). Cheats are up at

Awesome!
Great idea and execution, loved it, yet to beat it.
Didn't realise that the letter was a message of failure so I kept playing in the naive hope that I'd win. How wrong I was.

A suggestion?
I just thought it was kinda too easy...
You state in the beginning that new people will lose at first, but I didn't. It only took like 15 minutes to win. I do like this game VERY much though, and I think that the events were often hilarious. You definately have a vivid imagination, and I hope to see more games like this from you. Perhaps the next one should have different planet TYPES as well! Ice planets, desert planets, and for a real challenge, gas giants (all structures float in a certain density pocket).
That would seriously rock.
I look forward to your next game!
Yep, people kept complaining that they lost, so I added a "you'll probably lose" message, and then people stopped complaining. :p

Decent....
It's a nice concept. I could tell a lot of work went into this.
My only real complain is that it moves way too fast. Most of the time, just as I would lose just as I had started getting a decent system of Ore and Food-producing structures in. It's nice that you can pretty much continue infinitely, but you shouldnt have to. Some people may like a game this fast, some done. You really should have put in some way to vary the speed, like most other strategy games do.

it's alright
i have to admit... this game was pretty damn good when i first played it... it was hard at first... and that is always good...
it took me less than an hour to learn the math of the game... after that... i could zip through all 3 maps...
i admit.. i haven't tried all government types... but, i will... i DID choose the easiest one to start with (or what i thought would be easiest)... and then i tried the one that had a title and basic principle that i liked... without regard for what that type did for the game...
but, great game... i enjoyed it... my only advice for improvement is to make it harder... anyone with experience with starcraft 64... or any RTS game... (provided they aren't retarded) will learn fast and find no challenge...
this was written without fully checking out the game in it's entirety... and is based ONLY on what i've seen(played) so far...
it's very good... and until i find a the hard set-up and easily beat it... i will continue to play...
mostly movies go in my favorites... few games... this is one game that will go in my favorites...
good job... keep it up...
For some reason I didn't add a difficulty setting, and just made it easier when people complained it was too hard. Ofcourse, now it's too easy for some people. I shall update with a difficulty setting.. and stuff.
