I made this a few years ago when i first got my webcam. I always thought it was pretty cool. So now i added some flash drawings to go along with the stop-motion lego men.

It is a rather short movie. But I just wanted to test my webcam back when I got it.

I got all my sound effects from FlashKit.com

sls

Pretty sweet, I love the pencil sharpener in the background :)

Graeme responds:

Does sls have a meaning?

And that is one heavy duty pencil sharpener. That thing can eat away an entire pencil in like 10 seconds. Good stuff. Maybe it should have killed someone
^_^

Goood

Pretty Good, quite entertaining.

The whole movement of the flash was pretty good, only thing I could see wrong with the visual side was the whole fact that the flash was pretty dark, but other than that it was all good.

Sounds were pretty good aswell, synced properly, good job.

Overall thestory was a bit random, but it was an excellent lego flash anyway, great job :D

I think those are the only good sound fx to ever come from FlaskKit.

I haven't seen a LEGO stop motion on NG yet, I think. So you definetly get some points for being original ;) .

The plot was nearly non-existent and that made it quite hard to follow the movie, because there was a lot happening in quite a short time.
But the animations seem to be very fluent and the sound effects were put to good use here.

I think you should experiment with different camera angles a bit, just to spice the whole thing up a bit. And you could also use different angles to tell some kind of short story.

Too bad the quality of the pictures is so low or else you would get a much higher score.

I really liked the little picture at the end as it seemed to fit the last scene of the movie nearly perfectly.

Thanks for the review.
You make good points. But since it's points that have been brought up before, i'll just say thanks.

too fast and jerky

Improve your title screen! As the first thing folk see, it plays a big part and this title screen - with the typography not really meshing well together and the slightly sloppy drawings - sent a bad first message. Not that the droid or alien would be appalling within the animation, but you should make the first screen send out a great first impression! Maybe use shading and cleaner lines? Better typography...

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the actual movie. I liked the stop motion with the toys and liked the way you faded into the drawing at the end.

My main issue is that it's hard to follow - some motion's OK, but it seems like you need to get used to moving the guys a bit less between frames. Sometimes they jump about a bit too much and it's hard to tell what happened. When the guy's on his own, maybe have him walking for a few seconds to build up tension.

It's too fast and jerky and it took me 3 watches to properly understand what was going on, despite the fairly simple action.

If you moved the guys less between frames and thus slowed it down a tad, it might be understanded on first watch and it'd have time to resonate with us.

Cool sfx though.

Graeme responds:

The preloader is rather messy and boring.

And when I look back at the movie. It seems a guy moves across an entire screen in about 3 frames. When making it I wasn't aware how much i was moving them. And i'm used to flash, were if the movement was to much, you go back and add more.
But in this I was kinda stuck with what I had.

^^Good Points^^
I liked all of the sound effects you added into this. There wasn't a moment in this move where good sound effects weren't used and used well. The animations wasn't too bad, though I still have some suggestions on it.

^^Needs Improving^^
This was kind of hard to follow. I think you need to try to change the camera angles some more to get better views of what is going on.

Graeme responds:

Yea, camera angles would have been cool.
I wanted to make some kinda of rig to hold the camera from a top view, but that would have been a little hard.
