IMPORTANT: This is a rather different version of Chapter 1!
The original was released in 2007, but this version was uploaded in 2010. It's basically a 'remake' in many ways, though the plot and events are generally the same.

Unfortunately, your saves from the old version won't work due to the drastic differences behind the scenes, but there are enough differences, I hope, to make replaying worthwhile. Any saves you make in this version can carry over to later chapters properly.

EDIT (21st of August 2010): Sorry, there'd been bugs with this version for a long time! It's because I fixed the bugs on Kongregate and updated the version there, but didn't do so here... Now I have though, so hopefully all problems will be fixed.

Oh, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you have an appropriate Flash Player version! There's a screen at the start that warns you if your version is outdated. If this screen appears *at all*, then you may (probably will) experience some bizarre saving problems. Updating your Flash Player prevents them.

good but unfortunatly I found another bug.

When I tried to exit the item shop I got a pure brown screen. I did enjoy the game and style of play from what I did play. If the brown screen didn't cut me off I would have given it a ten because of the formentioned great game aspects and the humor. Also, if anyone who tried this lost to the dragon after this version I will find out who you are go to your house and laugh at you.

Funny, clever, and enjoyable

I really enjoyed this game! The sense of humor was very good and I enjoyed the fights more than I expected to. The reaction system is quite fun and I imagine will be even more fun when we get into the real meat of the game in the next few chapters.

I look forward to playing with a bit more options in terms of equipment so that we'll be able to develop skills and make choices about what we would like to use. The lack of choice in this initial chapter was not a real negative, but I hope for more inventory diversity in the future.

I thought the whole thing with The Dragon was really comical and it made me smile quite a bit. Well played!

The only real negative piece of criticism I would have for you is that you seem to be surprised that people don't want to wade through the instructions, but that's a dense amount of material that people have to read, and there are quite a few keystrokes to memorize. I don't think there are too many, but displaying, for example, a small reminder of what the E, A, and P keys do on the inventory screen might not be a bad idea. The same might be true for the battle screen. I dunno.

Overall though, tons of fun, very funny, and I look forward to the next chapter!!
