IMPORTANT: This is a rather different version of Chapter 1!
The original was released in 2007, but this version was uploaded in 2010. It's basically a 'remake' in many ways, though the plot and events are generally the same.

Unfortunately, your saves from the old version won't work due to the drastic differences behind the scenes, but there are enough differences, I hope, to make replaying worthwhile. Any saves you make in this version can carry over to later chapters properly.

EDIT (21st of August 2010): Sorry, there'd been bugs with this version for a long time! It's because I fixed the bugs on Kongregate and updated the version there, but didn't do so here... Now I have though, so hopefully all problems will be fixed.

Oh, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you have an appropriate Flash Player version! There's a screen at the start that warns you if your version is outdated. If this screen appears *at all*, then you may (probably will) experience some bizarre saving problems. Updating your Flash Player prevents them.

They couldn't get past the dragon?

I'm sorry you had to adjust the difficulty of the Dragon again. If they can't get past the dragon then they shouldn't be playing RPGs. You need at least some coordination in most of them. Now, the actual review:

Graphics: Loved the sprites, and the portraits in the speech boxes.

Style: You definitely have the style down for this game. It seems to be very distinct and unique.

Sound: The battle music was amazing. If I may ask, where can I get a copy of it? The rest of the music fitted it's scene perfectly as well.

Violence: There wasn't any blood, but I don't care. The battle system was well-done.

Interactivity: VERY good interactivity. 1000/10.

Humor: The conversations were hilarious. I hope you include more in the next game.

Overall: Woooo! 10/10 and a 5 vote. I can't wait untill you finish the next game! :-)

P.S.: Btw, the link to your site you provided in the Author Comments isn't working so well for me. It seems I can't connect.

2 words... You Rock Dude! wait... that's 3!

Yeah, nice game! And yes the dragon was easy, but that's the point of the beginning(to go easy on the noobs). I had to be honest with my ratings, but all in all... i gave it a 10 coz it was cool! can't wait for Episode 2! Episode 2! Episode 2! Episode 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!oneone !!!!one!111!!

P.S. Make some skill shortcuts like 1 for Strike, 2 for Huff-Puff etc... and make some targeting shortcuts too for attacking enemies (that should make the game more convenient). Well, those are just my advices. Your game = Your rules. ^_^

I can't wait!

An old skool' RPG with a totally unique story, very cool. I really enjoy games like this and this one was great, can't wait for the next chapter. I love the reflex thing aswell, I've never seen that on a game before so, kudos I guess.

So your a high priest-in-training?

I looked at my party (after hitting save, it becomes an invisible menu) and clicked below Mardek accidentally...and got Pseudoalonewolf: level 100, high priest-in-training and everything else undefined...below you was Ted the expendable soldier and below that Lawrence the expendable soldier... Joined Newgrounds just to say that :P

Great make another!

This game is great and imaginative and like I said make another!
But please add more armor side quests and make it longer if you can.
I found the defence/attack boost context sensitive commands fun reminding me of other games that were also great.
Can't wait to play the sequel!
