++oh ma gawd, first award?! Front page!? Thanks Tom! (and everyone who gave it a 5!) This is really fantastic.
-The plot needs a fair bit of clearing up, so here's a review from Jagermeyer that explained it pretty well.
"i think it represents the fact that there is always someone who is out to destroy nature for the profits it brings...but theres always someone who is there to defend the remaining patch of life.....eventually we will meet a middle ground where the 2 can work as one cohersive unit....not hurting nature....benefiting off the life that can survive after its all said and done."
++If you're feeling generous, I'd be really happy if this got submitted to the experimental section.

Hey everyone, thought I'd submit something else using various household textures. This project started as me and my friend Luc looking through my sketchbooks to see if we could find something animatable, and this flower drawing was one of the best bets. The story is really just that... um... well, that its often a good idea to stand up for what you think is right, and to continue to fight for that. It's 2359 frames long, running at 24 frames per second, which balances out to 98.2 seconds. Almost all the art is hand drawn onto paper with a simple black pen. The rest is flash. Enjoy the show.

Nice

Don't worry Morrow, I like your "artsy" style stuff.
Excellent choice of music. You didn't credit the author, so I'm not sure who it was. Possibly you. Haha
Did you draw the Tree and the Treekeepers? There were pretty cool.
And I love the plaid gun! High five for plaid gun! Totally turned the thing into a Treekeeper! Haha!
I always love your papertowel backgrounds too! They look so sweet!

So good work again!

MorrowDays responds:

Thanks! Yeah, I made the music in garageband, so there wasnt really any need to you know, have another credit! :P
I did draw all the stuff, I drew in that line style for a little while so I had a variety of drawings I could use to make it all match, so I chose those two, the tree and the treekeeper, and then the thing on the front of the big treecutter was also a scanned in drawing.
Have fun with the papertowel background, I hope it serves you well. :)

Could have made it clearer...

Very artistic and unique style...
I'll have to agree with Jinumon on some things. I, too didnt really get in at first...Anyway, the drawings were nice but very unclear. The plot is good enough (kinda like the descriptive essays); not alot to write about but quite meaningful.
Could tell there was alot of effort. Im sure it would be good if you touched up on it...

MorrowDays responds:

I might touch it up eventually, right now Im starting on a project for "the used", they're holding a fan video competition so Im trying to work something up for that. glad you enjoyed it, it was supposed to be interpretable, but if thats not your thing, no problem.

Nothing moved!

OK then,
First and foremost, I didn't get it, I mean, what's the point of the whole thing. Secondly, hardly anything really moved, and by that I mean changed shape, not just shifted or rotated. The art nor animation was good and the music was okay, but no voices. Your style, while unique, didn't really seem to make the cartoon better, and that's what it should do. I'm sorry, but I'm only giving this a 4.
Jinumon

MorrowDays responds:

The whole concept of the piece was that it was different from most other stuff. The story was that there were machines attacking and the treekeepers had to protect the tree. It says that in the description.
I spent alot of time on the drawings for the animation, and I know I'm biased, but I think they look fine. The lack of voices were to further the stylistic effectiveness of the whole thing, and really, if you think about it, what would anyone have said? machines don't talk. The treekeepers would be talking and nothing would respond.
Lastly. Some of the best cartoons are good because of sheer camera movement since the things don't move much.
Look at Toof for example.

so thanks for the review. Hope I've been able to disagree with most of everything you said!

It wasn't the WORST thing I've seen...

...but then again it wasn't the best. Don't get me wrong - I love a simple short, but I feel like this was too simple. I'm not sure if Jagermeyer was actually serious in making that comment or just patronizing you but I don't see how he can read that much into this submission. I didn't really enjoy it at all. I'm sorry.

MorrowDays responds:

sure, no problem.

just.. to justify the "simplicity", sometimes you have to look really closely at details. Jagermeyer, as far as I know, was being totally serious.

If you didn't like it, then thats cool, whatever, everyone has an opinion.
