Author's Response:
Well, I was trying to make directorial decisions to keep it simple and to the point, using camera movement as the key cinematic element to really create the exact mise-en-scene that would cause the audience to immediately understand that it was a cliche japanese style monster attack on a metropolitan area, and then be surprised by the abrupt and unexpected ending.
But, you know, you're absolutely right. Better animation would have made it better.
(Oh, and just to let you know, the period was invented as a puncuation mark hundreds of years ago.)
