This film is not based on the mythos set by Robotech. It's based on the original source material for Robotech's Macross Saga and its film version, Macross: Do You Remember Love.

Couldn't put a rating on humor since there wasn't any but anyone would know that when it comes to Macross. Well except for Macross Plus. That had some good humor in it along with the best animation a music IMO.

I thought Macross was like the sequel or the next series of robotech?
It's a little more complex than that. To put it simply: Robotech is a show composed of 3 animes - Macross being one of them.
