digital painting tutorial

Author Comments

This is a tutorial aimed at the beginner in digital painting, it demonstrates how to show form with colour through the process of painting a mech, and finally explains the usage of digital paintings in flash.

Any feed back is greatly appreciated.

not bad one

well, i have seen a couple of the pointers in other tutorials based on pant before.... but this one was quite informative and i do believe that 'n00bs' who are serious about flash will benefit frmo this tutorial.

Decent tut...

This is a pretty good tutorial for beginners. This tutorial can help with some of the basics of shapes and shading as well as what to start with and what the finishing touches are. Fairly well detailed in how the process works. However, it won't necessarily help in some areas, like drawing people and natural scenery (forests, prairies, etc). Also, it doesn't cover other necessary basics, like how using a trapezoid as opposed to a square creates more depth. Aside from that, it can really help new artists that feel overwhelmed by the process needed to make something look good.

Also, the mech and docking bay (I assume it is a docking bay) look good. Showing such good designs can also help new artists understand the tutorial.

i agree with you about the fact that it doesnt cover people or organic materials, and that wasnt my intention, as im not so good with people myself, and making a tutorial on somthing your not good idea is kinda stupid. but thank you very much for your suggestion.

ill try to keep it all in mind for my next project.

peeepol no lik teh reed

ergo, I think this will likely get blammed, as most tutorials here tend to be. But since I have movies in me that are just DYING to be made but lack the knowledge to bring them into being, I need all of the tutorials I can get. Keep 'em coming!!!

This is a quality entry.

No fart jokes, no rehashed humour, no cheese.

With excellent, straightforward entries like this, I'm suprised there's not a Tutorials section on NG yet.

Very informative.

Thanks for that. Nice and informative. You should reward your self with a few cookies.
