My first completed game. If it runs slow, click on 'options' and set the settings to low. Enjoy!
-Use forests to retreat, zombies will usually not persue if you dont shoot and retreat.
-Buying support adds a vehicle to the currently selected squad. the number isn's the cost, but how much time the vehicle will take to arrive.
-Whoever is closest to the enemy will engage them when an attack order is given.
-dont expect your men to fight a battle they cant hope to win.
-push 'M' for mission select.

nice game

good graphics nice play addictive game but you should add more stuff like infantry to upgrade and more wepons like a sniper not rifle or somthing like that any way good game 5/5 8/10 but yea do all that and it is a good game all you have to do is hold your ground fire if they get to close to infantry back off a bit but they will still fire thats how i won most of them

Flawed But Thoroughly Enjoyable

This game is over a year old, but I figured I'd throw in my two cents anyways.

I enjoyed this very much, but several things annoyed me, even more so in conjunction with each other. First of all, groups of soldiers have no way of assisting each other, which is not only unrealistic, but frustrating, seeing as I often had 3-4 squads forming a line and then had that line completely broken just because the first squad had to retreat. The other 2-3 squads could do nothing, and, after the battle was over, the zombies had pursued the first squad far behind my line and out of reach. This oversight is made even worse by the fact that, for some unknown reason, the game -forces- the closest unit to attack, rather than allowing you to pick the attacker. Thus, if I had a long ranged unit positioned behind a unit with close range weapons like handguns (a formation that makes sense in real life), the long ranged unit could attack absolutely nothing until the other unit either fell back or was forced retreat, oftentimes a long ways and sometimes beyond the range of the long-ranged unit. I'm sure you can see why this not only doesn't make much sense, but would be very frustrating.

A possible solution to the above problems would be to simply allow the player to pick which units he wants to attack, more than one if he wants. -All- units within range that are picked by the player would be able to fire on the zombies, though only the closest ones would be in immediate danger of being attacked. If they retreat, they move a set distance backwards, and the battle starts over again with the zombies then attacking the second nearest target and with retreated units being unable to attack. This cycle would continue either until all the zombies are dead, or until all the troops have been killed or retreated. THEN if there are still zombies left, have them pursue the -last- unit retreated as far as possible. That's a simple solution, but I think it'd work.

Beyond that, some possible improvements would include an experience system whereby units could gain veterancy with associated benefits like faster movement, improved accuracy, larger health, etc. Another possible improvement that I see has been already suggested would be units being able to pick their weapon loadouts prior to missions.

Although this review has mostly been spent discussing things the game could improve on, there's very little to say otherwise, since everything else is excellent. I thought the art was impressive, the combat was tense, and the gameplay overall was well thought out. Congratulations on one of the best zombie games out there.

Thanks for the input. I was learning the basics of actionscript when i made AW, and AW2 will have all those issues adressed.
