AkA District Height 00:Animatic Breakup

Have you ever had a breakup? Not like this.

I normally do REALLY rough animatics that get deleted as I start animating so no one ever sees them, but for this one I wanted something really done up. I took most of my cues from disney animatics, particularly The Incredibles and Tarzan. I like how thier animatics are fully done with sound,FX, and score and you could pretty much watch them like thier full movies.

Enjoy!

Oh by the way THIS IS IT. Actual animation coming never!

"Why doesn't this have an award?"

It's good to see something different and new once in a while. I found it an interesting experience to watch, since the video had its own style. Someone might think its choppy, but I see it as an animating style. Character art and poses were actually very decently drawn.

As for the negatives, you probably know already: bad speech, sometimes hard to understand, atleast for me. Also durring the scene where the two start 'throwing old garbage at each other' the camera should stick to the person currently speaking, rather switch at a seemingly random pace. Though I understand the increase in speed in switching from one face to the other was made to indicate a gradation of emotions, you still should stick to the face of the current speaker (and perhaps make the lines of speech gradually shorter as to indicate an increasing tension?).

Oh and I missed some kind of interactive feature in the movie, like scene selection, or perhaps atleast a pause button.

Overal nicely done, voted 4 and will definitely remember the animation for its uniqueness.

"It's not really an animatic"

Most of the reviews so far seem to be blind praise, but when one came along to make a valid criticism, you dismissed it as being "funny". The whole point of being reviewed is to learn how to improve yourself, not to sit back and get your dick sucked.

I agree with PIGPEN. This has too much animation to be considered an animatic. It is just limited animation, which in itself is not a bad thing, just call it what it is.

The audio quality was horrible, I couldn't understand the actors a lot of time and when I could understand them, I didn't care about what they were saying. The lines were not enjoyable to listen to and often made me cringe. The story just needed something more, It dragged on way too long.

Your character design is good, the drawing is well done and I like how you added a suggestion of value. You had a lot of interesting shot choices and some nice transitions.

Just work a lot harder on writing and make sure you practice with your actors and use a decent microphone.

Author's Response:

Now you and him said the same thing, but do you see how you said it and how he said it? I'm not dismissing his points. Theyre valid and I've heard them all b4 I submitted here and I agree with ALL of them. I just didn't appreciate his condecending and presumsous tone.

"Has potential, poor execution."

Doesnt really look like an animatic, certainly nothing like a disney animatic like youve suggested. It really just looks like a choppy, lazily done animation.

The audio quality was poor, the male VA sucked, the female needs a better mic and to try harder...some good lines, lots of flat ones.

Story was alright but cant save it.

It just looks like you slapped the label "animatic" on this as an excuse.

Author's Response:

Funny. I never said it was a Disney animatic. I'm really sorry you feel that way. I also hope your salty review made you feel better, good day to you.

I loved it. Very good illustration and I really did like animation type. The voice acting was a little flat though, but all in all excellent job. Do more
