"Decent game, good details."
date: October 8, 2006
First off, I would like to say that you did a number of things well with this game. The music had a space feel to it and was suspenseful and mysterious. The sound effects were about average, but can definitely be improved on. The best thing about this game was the interactivity of it. By giving the player a number of options in the game, you made the game much more entertaining.
Pros:
• Details to game interactivity was one of the better parts of the game. The abilities to use multiple stealth, hide in dark rooms, hang from walkways, are a good example of it.
• Music and sounds effects were done well, but like I said above, sound effects could definitely be improved on.
• Besides missing a few things, the tutorial was well done. It essentially taught the player how to do everything, but you should label the shift and space keys. Also, in the stealth kill area, you should probably give the user an enemy to try them out on.
Cons:
• The graphics seemed run down, and boring. They weren't too bad, but things like the blue monster weren't very good. Graphics definitely need improving.
• The storyline wasn't very original. Mad scientist, monsters/aliens, but it's understandable seeing how everything has been done in one form or another.
• The shortness of the game took away from a lot of it. This wouldn't have be as bad if you increased the size of each area that a player enters.
Suggestions:
Graphics- Definitely can be improved, or at least sharpened up a bit.
Tutorial- Done well, but read what I said above for the suggestion.
Game Length- A pretty short game with not many enemies. Increasing the length of the game and widening areas would go a long way to improving this game.
Weapons- This is were the details of the game got pretty bland. Adding in more weapons for the player to use will keep the player interested and make the game funner. Shoot the same gun, throw a grenade or two, same sound effects, wash and repeat. Seems boring , huh?
Storyline- Can be improved on to try and make it seem a little more original.
Enemies- Overall I believe there were only six enemies to fight (Including bosses) throughout the game. Adding in more enemies will make it so the game doesn't become tedious after a while.
Also, how are headshots helpful? I tried them on enemies, but they don't seem to be effective and only slow the killing of an enemy.
I hope this review helped, good luck on future games and/or animations.
