This represents my progress so far on the adventure game "Saga". This is my first proper Flash game, but I have been developing the story and concept for more than 10 years.

This game is intended for play on the PSP as well as on the PC, so some of the controls, game dynamics and animations have been simplified to accommodate the PSP Flash Player. See this web page for instructions on viewing Flash content on your PSP...

Normally, I wouldn't release an unfinished product, but I want to show my friends that I am serious about making this game and that I have the ability to make it work. Hopefully this will spur their efforts in terms of the voice acting I need from them.

You might notice that the "demon" character's voice hasn't been recorded yet.

Also, let me know what you think of my voice acting. I don't know that I sound much like a 50-something Chinese Australian. If you DO sound like a 50-something Chinese Australian and feel like doing some voice acting, please get in touch with me!

Also, if you have made any Celtic music with a D&B/jungle beat you wouldn't mind letting me use, get in touch!

Not a very good demo...

I understand that it's a demo, but make it to where the fight is at least posible to win. It's not very fun where there's a fight that you participate in and you have no choice but to lose. And make the demo longer and more indepth, I didn't understand a thing on the plot, especaily what this has to do with the Celtic. But with a little bit of work, I'm sure this could become something bigger.

pointless to play the demo

in the end it will be ok but as we are only playing the demo which was boring and pointless i dont think it was worth me playing

just a couple of things

Yes i know it was a demo but it still was very short so we are not able to fully understand what is going on in this game, but even so it was not a bad start i agree with everyone else about the the water issue. also the clouds! they are quite annoying and are always in the same spots you might want to switch them up a little bit just to make it a little more appealing. Why did you disable walking diagonal it would have been usefull to navigate around the small walkways the color was a little bland and nothing new. But yes i can see with a little more development and after the problems have been fixed then it has a great potential good start

kennsj responds:

I guess it seems like a major part of the game because this demo is so short, but walking around will be less of a feature than the fights.

I will mix the fog up a little, since you've mentioned it. ^_^

Thanks for the feedback!

Pretty nice so far.

The water graphics seem to cause lag on my AMD sempron 3000+ equipped PC with over 1 gig of ram.
I'd recommend optimizing all your line-art to give it a smoother allround look, and generally be more processor friendly.

Also, compared to the more shaded backgrounds, the characters look rather bland.

Other than that, the flowing river background sound effect does not seem to be looping properly. I'd highly recommend fixing that issue, also, that sound effect seems to be causing additional lag, indicating that it is likely not properly optimised. I could be mistaken on this one.

I will refraim from commenting on your current storyline, as (I hope) we haven't really seen much of anything yet.

This definitely does not qualify as a game demo due to being far too short.
The fact that not even all the features shown in the instructions section can be used, is indicative of this.
"Game engine demo" seems like a better term for this submission.

Work out these flaws and you'll have frontpage material.

kennsj responds:

Yeah, that river certainly is problematic. I will be giving it some serious attention.

The storyline is huge, so you've hardly seen anything yet. I will be tweaking the opening a little to try and develop the story better.

Hopefully this'll be worthy of front page by the time it's completed. There are 22 levels planned and scripted, so that might be a while.

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback.

Not bad, but could be a LOT better

The movement for one thing should be improved, and the sound (especialy the water) as well...but besides that, nicely done

kennsj responds:

The movement is intentionally simplified, but I will -definitely- do something about the sound.

Thanks for the feedback!
