"I wasn't really feeling it"
date: August 22, 2006
Sorry to say so, but I really wasn't feeling it. It was more confusing than anything and it only kind of makes sense at the very end, which unfortunately was too late to save it. It was a cute concept, I'll give you that, and it could have been pulled off if more work was put into it. I would suggest, myself, going back and putting more effort and time into it and doing a full remake of it, rather than just settle for what you made for the contest.
Also, I see a lot of people saying your synching is off, and I agree, but if I'm not mistaken you just used the same image of the cat-thing singing every time you showed him singing. (Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's what it looked like to me. I understand you might have done that because of time constaints.) Unfortunately, you showed him at points that weren't all the same lines so even if it was in perfect synch, it wouldn't have worked. My own preference, I would have just not had him singing at all. Sometimes, a forlorn look works better than actually having them singing along.
And my last comment on this, in the future if you're going to have a story line like this one, where the audience is meant to believe one thing and then it turns out to be another, you really need to make sure that in the end, everything that happens makes sense with what was really going on. You shouldn't lead your audience on that it's about one thing, and then it's about something else, but it doesn't make sense when put with that something else.
Author's Response:
Thank you for taking the time to write such a long review.
I previously believed that the origin of the audio sync problem was when i was converting the file to a .mpeg for MTV, but by the accounts here i see ther is something wrong with the file. It works okay on my computer- mainly how i wanted it to work, but now i am finding problems online now. I will try to fix the problem in the future.
i also promise my future submissions wont be so rushed. This time constraint was infuriating.
The reason why I didn't edit it was because people (the Linkin Park/Fort Minor fans) were requesting the video to be put back on the internet, and i felt that editing it would feel like cheating. And that i'd rather work on a better cartoon than this one, since this one has given me such a huge headache.
