Dark Wind Blowing

EDIT: The preloader is fixed.

This is a 5 minute cartoon which is mostly dialogue taken from the book "Dark Wind Blowing". I wasn't quite expecting it to be 5 minutes when I wrote the script (well, took it stright from the book). This is my first Newgrounds submition with people talking, and I cheated by using a mask loop. Next time I promise I will put real lip-synching in it.

Good one.

I like the idea you decided to get some script from a novel and make a short movie out of it, with characters talking of the script, making a re-enactment of sorts, interesting.

Did the book describe a sickness going around maybe? And they were in a hospital? Or did you think the atmosphere and background up yourself, from the way the story sounded to you? I imagined them in a hospital setting, with loads of sick people talking in the background, and Mike and his friend sitting on the ground, leaning up against the wall.

I watched the whole movie, it was decent to watch, listening to Mike talk about random things in his life to his friend, it kept me interested. I read a few pages of the script as well.

You could make the background a bit more detailed next time, thats all that needs to be thought over.

Anyways, I was interested, thank you.

Sahm responds:

They were actually in quarantine in a school hall but the setting wasn't supposed to matter. The sickness was the "viruses" Mike mentioned while he was talking about Lance and Tentetfield. Thanks for the review, and I'll keep in mind what you said about the backgrounds for my next submission.

Got a bit boring

They kept talking and talking! After a while I couldn’t be arsed to watch it. But I think it should get past judgement.

Sahm responds:

I knew it was boring and I was worried about that when I watched the final movie. I'll choose a more interesting script next time.

A bit Boring

This is a bit boring, since there's no action, just people sitting talking. You could perhaps have other people walking by, cut to other scenes or something to break the monotony of it. Maybe ou were going for a mood, but the mood I felt was 'when is something going to happen?'.
The sound also needed work, as the background sounds were a bit loud in most of it, so that it made some parts hard to hear had to really strain to make out some dialogue.
The animation was ok, just needed more of it.
Good Luck with your future submissions.

Sahm responds:

Yes, it is a bit boring. I was suprised I got a few reviews saying it was interesting! I'll try and fix up some of the audio, I didn't think of that becuase I already knew what they were saying. I hope to make my next sumbission a bit more interesting.

Hey!

You used my song room fool (the sad piano part in it) and didn't credit me! Wait, but it doesn't say for my song used in 1 submission, it says 0 for that. So what exactly is going on here? You used part of it, and I know it's mine because it goes into the same track afterwards! So wtf happend?

Sahm responds:

Actually I didn't use your song, I made that short loop myself with some Garageband loops. After listening to Room Fool, I recognise that you used the same loops I have but it sounds nothing like the song in this movie.

I was absouletely blown away!

Man that was a great interpetation, I have to read that book, dude, that was great, next time do a Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonneguit, or better yet, Nausea by Jean Paul Satre, that book will blow you away.

Sahm responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it, cmdq. I'll make sure I check out some of those books.
