(If you vote on this, I request you review it as well. If I'm doing something wrong, I'd like to know how to improve. If you like it, tell me what you liked about it!)

Remember the Picard Song? The same author also made a Worf Song. THIS... Is my tribute to him. By making a video of said song. May do a Picard Song video next, and if I have time, Frame of Mind (Another song of his...).

This I made in a weekend. It's actually pretty good for my first attempt at a Flash video, and got quite a bit of acclaim elsewhere. I understand it gets kinda boring near the beginning, but gets better as it goes on. A friend suggested posting it here, but said it might get blammed. Well, I'm ready to take a chance. I think it's pretty good...

Oh, and yeah, I know it's big. I kinda can't compress it anymore without it losing serious quality.

NOTE: I am aware that the music and video are currently slightly out of sync. I don't know why this is, because it runs fine elsewhere.

I guess I don't get it

I am reminded to a great degree of some of the old animutations - weird bouncy images melding and changing, set to music. Hyakugo, for instance.
And yet...where they succeeded (if you can call it that) is exactly where you do not. They brought the weird, made things interesting. At the end of the day, 90% of this is just flashing Worfs. The same 3 flashing Worfs. By far, your most successful scene in my opinion is the one where the two images flip/mirror, and turn into the playing card. That at least has something. The second was the massive worfsaic in the beginning. Worf heads on a stadium light? Not so much. For a movie like this, I want action. I want trippy. I want to say "holy crud, did you see that?" Not "hey look, the stadium lights again". The execution I thought was crisp and clean - it's the lack of interest/idea that bothered me. Hence the low (style) score.

Yeah, that would be from the fact that I had some bad OCD back then. Couldn't really add much variety to my videos, sorta gotten over it.

hmm... er...

I'll cut you some slack since this is your first Flash movie (or so you claim in the reviews) and I am a huge fan of STTNG. Why did Worf look like a Muppet when he had his mouth open? Throw in some variety to your images and this actually has some potential. Keep working at this and I may find myself giving your work a 10 (or at least over a 7).

Gotcha. Thanks.

Not great at all.

I'm sorry, but I found this to be rather horrible, and not that great.

Now, unlike most people, I'm going to tell you why!

1. Graphics were horrible. I mean, it was kinda cute and funny at first with the little poorly drawn chibi-like worf graphics. But then it got boring after that, because that's ALL YOU USED! Sure, you threw in a bit of other things, but all you had were different styles of poorly drawn worf heads!

2. All they did was blink. Like, basically, they blinked, rolled, flashed... The same thing, over and over again. I mean sure, it was neat that you kept them bouncing along to how the audio shifted from left to right, etc... But... You could've done WAY more.

3. Taking the above 2 in account, you could improve upon the whole video if you made better worf graphics, added some REAL backgrounds, and actually at least SOME of the graphics represent the song. For example, during the "klingons singing" parts, you could have had a whole bunch of Klingons including Worf standing there singing, swaying a mug of Blood Wine or something in their hands. That's only one example, there's SO MUCH you need to improve upon.

However, if you search for the video on the picard song which is on newgrounds, it gives a good example of a better way to animate this song.... Even though it loses track to the words after awhile, it's dead hilarious. Check out that flash animation, then check back, open up flash, and try again.

I hope you found my review helpful, because I'd love to see a GOOD "Worf Song" flash animation sometime soon!

vinLAURIA responds:

Thanks. I'll take that all in mind.

By the way, this is a pretty good review. People should model theirs off of yours more often.

Sorry..

..But I didn't find this movie very funny or anything at all.
I found the graphics kind of charming at first -- I liked the little Worf drawings. Then they just kept being used over.. and over.. and over.. It got kind of tedious until I wasn't really appreciating how cool the drawings were.
The style was kind of.. eh. It was okay, not anything spectacular.
Techno is okay though, and you got some quotes in there. Sound coordination was pretty good, probably why I gave it a four instead of a one.
And I didn't find the humor in it -- maybe because I'm not a huge Star Trek fan.. It was amusing at the beginning, I guess, but then it just got tedious.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that it was far too long and repetitive, and it could have been better if it was cut down.
Overall - 4

No problem. Good for you, you voiced your opinion.
