ATTENTION: JAP HATERS, STAY FAR AWAY!
If you thought my musical choice in "Roadside" was strange wait 'til your ears get a dose of the pillows, the Japanese band who supplied most (if not all) of the music for my favorite anime: FLCL (Fooly Cooly). I loved the ending theme, a song made exclusively for the show, "Ride on Shooting Star", and I put my mind to it that the song would be in my next Flash, and here we are. This Flash can almost be considered a trailer for the "Mitch's Life Flash Series", as it features all the main characters and one villian. I know my cartoon is looking like it'll have an Azumanga Daioh's-worth of characters, but they're all easy to remember by their personalities and shirts:
Mitch: is a nerd and a jerk. He has a gear on his shirt... I dunno why.
Derek: is the big guy. Despite his huge exterior, Derek is a kind soul. He has a shirt that reads "I <heart> MW" for "I heart Morgan Webb", the co-host of X-Play.
Jake: is the psycho. Still, whenever he's needed, he retains his sanity. He has a Star Wars shirt. 'Nuff said.
Ryan: is the sane one. His shirt says "Lv. 99" to symbolize his Runescape fandom.
Rory: is the strategist. Seriously, he loves that stuff. He has the infinity symbol on his shirt, 'cuz he likes math or somethin'.
Lily: is the girl. ... Thas' about it.
Mike: is the redneck. 'Cause, we needed a redneck character. He has an "I like cereal" shirt, that he made himself. (In real life).
Negative: is Mitch's evil clone. Pretty damn evil-lookin'.
So, yeah, enjoy the show!
Easter Eggs:
1. There are many FLCL references in this Flash, including the French bread, the sound line at the beginning (that was in the credits of FLCL, as well), hitting that guy with the guitar, various pictures of Haruko, the actual Japanese katakana.
2. There are some subliminal messages right before the first bridge.
3. Mitch uses a Gibson Flying V (my favorite guitar), Derek plays a Gibson Explorer.
4. I actually thought they said "Sometimes you don't want it" in the chorus, when they said "Sandanju no yo ni". This is shown in the final chorus.
5. Negative appeared in "Across the Nightmare". Derek, Rory, Ryan and Jake also appeared in it, as the zombies.
6. Lily was in "Roadside".
7. This is Mike's Flash debut.
8. The scene after the last chorus is taken straight from "Your Guts (I Hate 'Em)". (The scene where Mitch is rocking out on the mic).
9. When Mitch looks at the katakana for FLCL, he says "Heke?" a tribute to Hamtaro.
