Knock on Wood - Angel

This is a fan filmclip I did for a Knock on Wood contest. I made this about two months ago in about three days just to try out some different animation styles. It is frame by frame line tool animation to google images'd backgrounds and a lot of reused shots and camera pans.

Geometric Genius!

This is an amazing first submission! You did well with putting the movie to the music, and you were able to make the shapes move in as logical a way as shapes could walk :)

The guitar part was interesting, but if you want a personal opinion, if you had a star or something with two appendages aiming out of it, you could feasibly have that hold and seemingly play the guitar. A triangle works in all honesty, just as a music student, I would think a star would be more apt to play guitar.

But this is fine as is! Keep up the good work!

Sahm responds:

I'm glad you like the walking, Zeroun2687. Yes, a star would have been more flexible for movement and actions but perhaps a superstar would have been the best choice for guitar. If I try to make a movie about shapes again, I'll definatly put a star in it.

Not bad at all.

That's a good first portal submission. The animation was good, but I must say the walking looked so awkward, like they were walking with 1 leg.

I like the way you animated the guitar solo. Pure talent! I think your animating style will take you far, padawan. (Says the guy who hasen't submitted anything yet...)

Sahm responds:

Yes, master. =P Of course, the shapes weren't walking with any legs. The real challenge was to try to make them look like they were walking.

You thought the solo was pure talent? Heh, I thought it was the worst part; it was just all tweens.

Tanks for the review, Dinoshaur!

I like it!

That was a good animation, I quite liked it.

Constructive critisism time...
The only thing I didn't really like were some of the textures/backgrounds
i.e the street texture, the brick wall wasn't too aligned and the restaurant you could see repeating at times.

But hey it's still good. I think the best part was the guitar fill, nice drawing!

Sahm responds:

Yes, now that I watch it again I can see what you mean. I'll probably go back to drawing my backgrounds from now on anyway. Thanks for the review!

:D

that was kool, lol

Sahm responds:

Cheers, budgettt. Let's hope the judges think so too, eh?

nice.

A very nice touch. Simple visuals and a innovative and unique way of animating shapes.

Next time I'd like to see you use people instead.

Sahm responds:

Thankyou. I do prefer animating people because of the simplicity of rotating limbs, but it was fun to try and show emotion though shapes. Plus, the contest rules were that you had to use shapes. :P
