I originally posted this on Newgrounds in 1999, before the current Portal system.

Your master is dead, and you're out for mindless revenge against everyone! Use the arrow keys to walk, "A" to attack, "S" to jump and "D" to block.

This game was made in Flash 4, which is why the keyboard input is laggy. Flash 4 didn't allow consistent keyboard input, so I had to fudge it to make the character move as smoothly as possible. I was tempted to fix it, but decided to maintain the crappy integrity of the original.

It is also worth noting that Flash 4 didn't support depth swapping, so it was a pain in the butt to make the characters overlap eachother based on their depth on the screen. I don't say this stuff to be boastful, I say it because I want people to appreciate why my old games are so crappy. These were the pinnacle of Flash programming at one point and I need some props!

The background art was by Michael Bregman. I did the rest!

yes, yes I know

I know, I know, this was made by Tom Flup but, I'm not afraid to stand up to the master of Newgrounds and say I personally thought that Samurai Asshole sucked, guess what, ass. There, I said it, I said I didn't like the flash. And guess what, I thought the graphics could have been a lot better. Now, go ahead and scream at me for giving my opinion and making a suggestion. All I'm doing is treating this flash the same as every other, fairly.

Sengoku anyone?

Nice retro newgrounds. I'll bet Tom Fulp three rounds of Danish beer that he has been playing Sengoku before making this (1, 2 or both). Nice little game there Mr. Portal king

A True Samurai ain't an asshole

It is a good side-scroling combat game. However it does get a little repetetive at times. But what I don't exactly get is that Samurai Asshole never had a series... this proved as a great way to start one. The combat was a little fun (although repetetive) but I enjoyed the backround change and the small not-long storry. The graphics however didn't stand up to my expectaitions...but still, iv'e seen worse.

OVERALL: It is kinda fun, definately better then 3-Foot-Ninja.
I gotta hand it to all of the flashes that Tom Fulp makes.
