Wow. I really didn't expect to make front page at all. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all who have seen this episode and voted.
I really do appreciate all the comments, even the negative criticism, as those are valid & constructive points too. I understand that not everyone will love it, but always keep in mind that it is the very beginning of a series, so it has no choice but to grow and change. Hopefully for the better.
The second part of this episode will be out very soon so look for it. THANKS AGAIN!
Episode 1: "Roses"

This is the first part of episode 1. I had to split this episode into two parts, as it's total length is about 15 minutes. Look for part two coming soon.
This is a story about a young man who knows that the only way to understand his past is to look on to the future. The series will be several episodes long, and work is currently underway on the newest material. It's taken alot of hard work and time so I hope you like it. :)

Trite, with no depth

There isn't a single second of this movie that didn't ooze cliche. Solitary assassin hates killing but does it anyway, is misunderstood by the world, craves beauty, light and freedom but is stuck in some shitty place. Has inner struggle. Come on. =/

I liked the fact that the visuals carried a story. It was rough, but it was really done well... I can tell a lot of effort went into it. This episode definitely set the scene and the mood...

But again that's all it did. It never presented anything to the audience that would make them WANT to follow this character. You didn't give us any of his backstory and unfortunately, the only things you did give us are done so many times before that it just doesn't evoke any empathy. You can still USE everything that you've so far given the character. But he needs much more at this point. Give us a reason to care.

Good luck on episode too and great job for carrying through this flash because the strongest thing about it was the narrative quality... it was very easy to follow along in each shot and know exactly what was happening.

PS. like another reviewer, I also thought the piss shot was unnecessary.

It's nice to read a "not-so-good" review that actually has some valuable insight and commentary, instead of saying "this sucked."

What you've said is true, and I honestly have never said that Gun is supposed to be some unique story or anything. In fact I stated that outright in the interview I did on the official Gun myspace page (The blog post called "More Information About the Upcoming Episode"). I basically said it's a totally unoriginal idea plotwise, but I'm just using it as a vehicle through which I can express other creative ideas or opinions on things. You should check it out, so you can get a bit more insight into this whole thing, beyond the facade, which I'll readily admit is completely steeped in traditional clich├ęs. There's more behind it though, and I hope you'll take a look and enjoy what you read.

I really appreciate the honesty. It's not for everyone I guess. but thanks for watching anyway. Hopefully you'll enjoy episode 2 more.
