Man this is so unoriginal Big Kahuna Reef's background and gameplay with Bejeweled jewels. This is so stealing.

good game...
if you review this game by itself, it is great. however the link to bejeweled can't be denied. bejeweled is probably my all time fav puzzle game, so of course i liked this game. it definitly introduces some new and unique ideas to bejeweld. however, i would have liked it if you at least tried to differenciate the style of bejeweled to try something new. it's a great game, but the fact that you pretty much just took bejeweled and added some things doesn't say much for originality. but since we are here to rate games as they are, and not as comparisons, you get a 10 from me!

Still good
I suppose if you want to make the "argument" that it's a ripoff of Bejeweled, then we can also say that Bejeweled is a rip of Tetris, which is a rip of every other puzzle game since the dawn of civilization. Along that line, Madness and Alien Hominid are just rips off of games like Metal Slug. It's still a well-made puzzle game with its own aspects and innovations, despite the fact that there are other, similar games which came before it. Even the great Tetris itself has spawned dozens if not hundreds of Tetris-clone games, many of which are actually pretty good.
The point is that games build off each other. This is a well made game and should be critiqued as such.

Seen This Before
A game like this can corner the market on every MSN and Yahoo Games-trolling housewife. But little more.
Essentially, this submission is a clone of "Bejewelled," the popular game found throughout the internet under many different names. With your mouse, you swap two adjacent colored gems, creating a line of three or more matching gems in the process, at which point the gems you've matched will break, and replacement gems will fall from the sky. Score greater points for longer lines, for setting up combos by breaking multiple lines of gems at a time, or more likely, for randomly causing combos when matching blocks happen to fall into place from above several times in succession.
Unlike some of the older clones, this game adds a objectives to advance to the next level, most often the breaking of special, immovable gem-blocks, or the breaking of regular gems when they're on top of brekable palens. One level simply offers the goal of breaking 200 total gems. It's easy, mindless mouse clicking, that's nearly imopssible to lose, perfect for any housewife passing a few hours on Yahoo Games. But overall, it's a seriously boring game for anybody looking for substance, or anybody not easily entertained by moving colors and shapes.
