Episode One: Captain Low-Rez and the Pixel of Destiny!
The Captain Low-Rez series originally appeared on Newgrounds in January of 2001, but was never submitted via the Portal. It is in the process of being moved into the Portal system, for consistency.
I remember this trilogy in back in 2000...
Note: I judge every old and new flash submission by the standards of today, and by my opinons and taste in entertainment.
Graphics: Very ironic. This could've been a cool cartoon on the Atari 2600 almost 25 years ago!. That really SHOULD'VE been done on the Atari 2600!, ( Along with the kick-ass Blastopod game to come with it! )
Style: If this trilogy was a cartoon series, ( On the Atari 2600, along with the awesome blastopod game to come with it ), it would've been a mega-huge hit!. Seriously Atari, why in the f**k didn't you guys make any cartoons on the 2600??. ( Maybe the 2600 wasn't capable of that kind of technology ). This trilogy, ( And the Blastopod game ), is filled with tons of style!.
Sound: Very ironic. The retro-style voicework is stylish, ironic, and kinda humorous!. ( So are the retro sound effects )
Violence: Bunches of pixels flying around that imitate lasers, it blends in perfectly with the overall feel of the cartoon.
Interactivity: Whack at buttons preloader
Humor: Not everyone likes this kind of humor, ( I certainly do! ),
But for those that do, it has it's share of well-done comic relief elements.
Overall: This is a trilogy i'll never forget. It was awesome in 2000, and it's just as awesome as it is today!, ( In 2005 of course ), excellent work Matt!.
( P.S.: I sent you an e-mail regarding the trilogy before the Captain Low-Rez cartoons were uploaded to the portal )
This movie was the coolest ... I just had to give it a 10 for the simple fact that the low bit graphics totally add so much to the movie. I think this is the most entertaining movie that i have seen on the internet so far (granted, i haven't been watchin' them until recently) ... I give it ... two thumps up!
Dude, Capin' low-rez is the man
the only reason i gave this bad graphics scoe is because it is supposed to look bad
This was AWESOME!!!
This is definitely the best sprite animation I have EVER seen, because it is basically making fun of all sprite animations! Hilarious! The "Alieons!" LOL!
Really Entertaining Movie
I liked it
