Bill and Sally are two stereotypical American tourists in the UK. They present their guide to the UK to teach fellow Americans what to expect when they travel to the UK, things to do and cultural differences. Hope you like, Stevie P.
Good, but not your best. Bit too mainstream I guess. I think Forest Ranger is my favourite, closely followed by Little Leaders. This one lacked the surreal humour IMO, and suffered for it. Still great graphics though, and nice to see the guest appearance from Patrick.
Keep up the great work. I always look forward to catching your movies on the Portal.

I thought this was very funny even though it did sort of put down americans. Alot of tourists are like that, I hope im not. Also the sound was really off there lips would move and they wouldnt even be saying anything although it could just be my computer.
I remember once I was playing online on my PS2 and someone started taking the michael out of british people, saying we sit around drinking tea and watching quidditch all day, he seriously thought quidditch was a real game. McBrothel!! Loved the subliminal messages too!!! I WANT SOME TOENAIL CLIPPINGS AND HAIR FROM YOU!!
i liked the style it was funny but it made uk look stupid :P but it also made amercain tourists look stupid so i liked that
That is so true. I loved all the jokes in this one. Maybe you could of added something along the line of the tourist asking for directions from the locals. Anyway, keep making them like this. :)
I recently moved to the UK from the US. So I pretty much know exactly what you are talking about in the flick. I thought it was well put together, but the audio was done terribly. The levels need to be brought down quite a bit. It was causing my speakers to clip, unless the audio was just that distorted. But otherwise nice job.

Pretty funny material, a decent cartoon to view. Some small problems, the sound quality isn't fantastic and there's some minor synching problems, and the filesize seems a bit large for the length of the film. Overall a good flash.

The funniest part for me was that so many people didn't like the ass on the flag! I mean, it's just a flag. It doesn't mean anything...burn the union jack, see if I care.
And the movie was funny, although I've never met any Americans who were quite THAT bad. I'm hoping you've more to follow. An episode per country, sort of thing.

I don't come from UK, or US, and I still think this movie is appalling. It’s not clever, and it’s not funny. It is insulting as much to the British as it is to the Americans. The jokes were old, boring, with clichés stacked one on the other. This whole animation was just damn annoying. I don’t think there was one sentence in it with any originality in it, nor creativity for that matter. The whole teenage angst and people’s ignorance subjects are better left alone to those who can deliver them well in a joke. The “creator” of this flash should stick to animations not requiring any dialog, or (for humanity’s sake) find a new hobby. Please.

First of all, I'm from the UK, but I'm not rating this badly because I find it offensive.
I'm rating it badly because it's bad. It's got no humour to it, the lip sync is just so wrong it's...wrong, and there is nothing of anything in this movie. Except a couple of backdrops, and 2 stereotypical American characters talking. Talking about nothing interesting.
Oh, and by the way, we DO have wal-mart in a sense - we have stores known as "Asda", which are owned by wal-mart, so they're as good as.
This is nothing like britain at all, as i come from the UK you dont have to say please, we dont sort out problems with words lol and we do store food in fridge's not wells.

Strange enough, I've always wanted to go to England.
The only thing you need to do is, fix the lipsyncing a bit.
I gave you a 10 because I, as a learning animator, know that lipsyncing is harder sometimes than making the rest of the animation because if you don't put the keyframes in the place of the sound.. its hard. Next time set your sound to streaming and use the Timeline to listen to the sound by moving the line.. that'll play the sound and then you can make everything perfect. Good luck man.. and good job.
MAn this is one of the worst submissions I have ever seen. man the lips were way out of sync. the jokes were dumb and my god i just cant say anything more. how did this trash get 5th I will never understand.
Im from the UK too, and i didnt find it offensive at all, but i was hoping for something much funnier than that. The voiceovers just dont go with the time for the character animation, and for some reason its just irritating. Dont like it, sorry.
I looked forward to this flash animation, but I was letdown both by the animation itself and by those who have reviewed it before me.
First the animation would have been great if the lip syncing was better, and if it had them move a little more, maybe walk to some places or show some more businesses.
However the biggest letdown are these people who say they're from the UK (and they could be) who seem to be offended, or make fun of it. It didn't make fun of the UK at all it made fun of Redneck Americans. I just think this animation needs more work, then it could be a masterpeice. I don't know how it got front page.

this probably woulda been quite funny if the pace was a bit faster. did you even watch it yourself before submitting? surely you must of noticed the stupidly long boring silences between things. and why did their lips keep moving for like an hour after they finished talking? that said i thought the humor was spot on and the style/graphics were pretty cool too.

I really enjoyed this. I'm disappointed that the last reviewer, kainy, missed the point -- this is a joke about US tourists, not a joke about people from the UK... pretty accurate too, even when they're on vacation here at home. (but I really wish I could pretend it wasn't true...)

I thought some parts were really funny. The fact that the words don't match up with their mouths was annoying, but it didn't really affect the actual flash. The only reason all these people are saying it isn't good, is because Americans don't know how to laugh at themselves, while us English are mostly just chilled out about it and can have a laugh.
The art was decent but the jokes were non existant.

Not bad, your animation style was good, but the lip-sync was a bit of a problem. The voices were alright, but kind of abrasive and annoying, you really didn't completly lose your accent, so it kind of fell through. And the humor was all right, but they were just old stereotypes thrown into flash. I liked it though, yeah I can laugh at my self, even though that's really just redneck southern type Americans you're spoofing.

And as for my review: it was pretty good! The accents aren't bad, either, but there could be a few more Americanisms, and we don't say "adverts." Ever. They're ads, or commercials, or if they're billboards, billboards.
When satire lands in the incapable hands of a wanker. If it were possible I'd give you a negative score, but the lowest I can give is a 0. Everything about this was bad, and I can't honestly think of a single reason for it to be on the front page.

This guy is FROM England. He's not ripping on the residents of the UK, he's making fun of American tourists. And he's right, for the most part. A lot of Americans can't handle other countries. I thought this was great, I just wish other people would realize that they come to Newgrounds to be shocked and offended, not to view high quality family programming.

The sound had trouble synching; the animation kept on going choppily trying to keep up with the words being spoken...on top of that, it just kinda got boring at some parts, because they didn't move that much...in fact....not much really happened in this...anyway, some of the jokes were okay and others were just trying to hard, so I'm giving this the in-between vote here. I'm not sure what I found more amusing, the flash or the reviews!
A few things I'd like to say though:
-People like the two Americans in the flash do exit, sadly, and they live in the NorthEastern part of the USA. In the southern states, childern are still taught manners. Take a trip to New York, then take a trip to Texas. The difference in they way people treat strangers is striking.
-As for the "I love Bush" T-shirt, I don't know why you would think that someone's political views have anything to do with their figure. There are fat nasty tubs o' lard all around, conservative and liberal.
-Guns- America was founded WITH guns, and the right to bear arms is part of our Constitution. This was done in part to ensure that the People will not be without power, and could potentially overthrow the government if need be.
It was pretty unamusing, rather than slamming england you had to to go and make fun of american cliche's. Very orginal.
Next time, don't try and insult a country or there people without a slightest bit of a clue. There is so much more potential that what is left here, be it the british or american's

I would like to start out saying that I am American. Second, I would to say that I have never seen so many mispelled words in a set of reviews in my entire life. This movie trashes both Americans and the English we can all agree on that, no need to keep up the fight about it. What I would like to point out is that both English and Americans believe stereotypes about the other country to an extreme. Wal-Mart for example, I believe that it is destroying small business in America and for McDonalds I think there food is cheap and rather disgusting. I still enjoy my fast food but as far as "I cant survive without it"....hardly. As for Bush I can definetly see why you see us the way you do from the way you have seen what Bush has done to the world in the media. Thanks to him the world now sees us as bullies and money-hungry. I dont support in any way what Bush has done with his presidency but neither does a huge portion of Americans, you have to keep in mind that the elections for Bush were won by just about the closest margin of American history. Unfortunately with so many Republicans in the house and office there isnt to much us real Americans can do about it, keep in mind we didnt have a vote to go to war.

Typical american tourists? I think not. Most like typical red-neck republican texan tourists. I'm not sure which is worse; The lame and flat humor, or the blatant "americans are dumb" reference. This short flat is mediocre at best, simply because of the rather good animations. The sounds are also out of balance with the movie at times.

Umm.... the "stereotypical" american tourists are much different than real american tourists. I will admit there are some real fucking dumbfucks in this country, but they are not all like that. I thought this was funny, because there are fat people in England too. Though not as many. I believe that the "Sponsored by Pepsi " and "Buy Microsoft" were good touches. as an english person i found this slightly amusing but it didn't hold my interest for long when it started freezong my computer with the out of synch lip movement. graphics wern't great, sound was shoddy, the woman looked like a bloke, (but then again i guess most american woman are fat and ugly) (before you retaliate, i suggest you look at my profile) and I ended up switching off after the ' how small clothes are over here' "gag".

The bit about Wal*Mart made me laugh a little, and so did the conversation with the taxi driver. But most of the other jokes fell flat, or were just too old and overdone.
Of course, it might just be that I think making fun of Americans should be reserved *for* Americans, since it's one of the few things we do better than anyone else. (I doubt you were really trying to hide it, but you gave away your nationality when Sally said she wanted more "adverts," heheh)

Yeah, as someones already said, England is part of the UK, but they aren't the same thing... As for the flash, it was so so, I didn't really find it that funny, even being English :P Some of the jokes, like the well one, were good but imo the whole stereotypical fat American thing is a little overdone. And the lip synk went a little crazy in the middle, which was a bit annoying. But it was still funny in a obvious sorta way, and so are most of these reviews; i mean wtf?!
Seeing this on the front page, I thought I'd extend my original review (As 'mrSimon'). There is seriously nothing special about this toon. As a brit, I know a many good things that would be a lot better to poke fun at rather than the fact we're foreign and this please thing? I seriously dont get that. You're illustrating a simple language barrier and developing that as a joke, and if thats the case it would have worked a lot better if it was 'The americains guide to foreigners'. It would have highlighted the fact americans love themselves a lot more effectivly than this toon did.
The style of presentation and 'comical timing' of this toon is nothing differnt from any other high performing "sit-com" style toon you get on Newgrounds (For instance, Legendary frog and Illwillpress's submissions). There is nothing special about the graphics either. Sure, you can do the whole 'head swap symbol' deal, thats great, thats excellent, but a little more movement would have been better. On an upside though, kudos for background motion in the main scene. It was'nt a lot, but its a lot more than we get in other submissions.
I agree with the score this submission currently has, as you have got great potential in the technical area, however your humour is seriously lacking. You need to spend some time and research into common UK (or any countrys) traits and such if you're going to get a topical comedy right. However I dont see why on earth this deserves front page at all. There have been a lot of high performing flashes recently, the worst of which are 10 times better than this. You must have gotten lucky as Tom came to London.
So the bottom line was, this was crap, but you might not be. Spend more time into your next submission, script-wise.

Graphics and sounds were decent enough, though the characters' mouths didn't sync up properly with the sound. The comedy was bland, dull, and almost completely absent. It fails at stereotyping Americans and English culture.
The art and technical details are adequate.

im agreeing with the review before this. im english, and that was fucking terrible. you could have insulted us about the fact that we "love foxhunting" say "tally ho" "what-ho" "toodle pip", had some of us "drinking tea" and "eating crumpets" the best bit about that was the stupid fast food rockers song at the end, and that sucks more cock than my sister.

Voices were out of sync when I watched it. The audio would have completed but the lips kept moving. I think some other stuff was said but I couldn't hear it. Like when Fat Bottom Girls was playing...

This was making fun of American's Sterotypical view of England while making fun at themselves. It's not saying that either nation is better than the other its just working sterotypes for fun. Your not ment to take it seriously or be afended by it. However that being said it was alittle too "Dumb" to be very funny. And i would have liked to seen how the English were reacting to the US tourists.

Good idea, but shoulda done more with it. To me, alot of this stuff wasn't funny. Mainly because I've seen most of those situations on "The Family Guy". And please, i'm no flash expert, but I'd know to fix my toon when the mouth animations fall behind the voice.
Stolen ideas that we see over and over again aren't funny. My advice is next time you make a cartoon, stop staying up late watching Adult Swim and take that time to write your material.

The voice acting sucked, the sound was shitty overall, the script was lame, and the jokes were nearly nonexistant.
The usage of the fat bottom girls song was the only reason you got a 4.
Matching the voices to mouth movements could have been better, but that was still pretty funny. It sent a fairly clear message, and i liked that.
I have to say that I was heavily inclined to love this thing. I love absolutly anything that confirms my prejudices :) However, it really was a lot of the same old jokes and they weren't presented in a particularly novel or creative way. The inclusion of Queen does earn a few points, though. My advice to the author would be to either spend a little more time thinking up new jokes (or just new variations of old ones) or thinking up a new way to present them. Preferably both, but I know how hard that is (oof!). Overall, the movie was all put together, so don't take this one as too much of a discouragement. Keep working at it :)

Try to make the words fit the animation I would also like to say that your animation was very good. I loved the style and if you worked on the points that I gave you I think you could make daily feature.

Well..umm..where do I start? The jokes weren't funny, the voices weren't in sync with the mouth movements and the voice acting was poor. Overall, this was a good movie. The jokes could use some work, and of course the mouth animation synchronization could stand to be fixed, but other than that, the movie was well made. Keep up the good work.

Pretty average basically. The lip sinc was almost non existant and it was a bit short but the odd joke was genuinely amusing, "I'ts pronouced U.K.". Try to make it longer with better sync although the theme music at the end was a nice touch.

Tis was abit sour. Good idea, but the lips were out of sinc, the jokes were sour too. Im British and didn't find this a TAD offence. Anyone mouning about it being offence needs to learn what the word means.

Although it was not especially hilarious or anything, I still thought the dumb-American thing was pretty obvious.

The whole speaking slowly well part was funny. The rest like the wallmart bit was old retread you can see on any yahoo board. But it will make for some awesome beat off ammo for some Brits.
I'm British, but i can perfectly take a good joke against us. Hell, i usaully join in with the laughter. But come on, this animation was about as funny as bricking a house.
Come on, was the comment on guns really required? Yes, we don't solve problems with guns. But all that means is that 11,00 people aren't killed a year as a result of gun crime (or something like that).
On a positive note, the graphics were smart, if not brilliant, but at times the sound was out of sync with the mouth movements which was annoying.

Europe is just starting to get Wal mart and England does have the store there. It's located in Bristol. I saw one there. It would be more interesting if you have "Don't buy any movies or DVD's here and videogames because they will not work in your country," be they're reagion 2 and they use PAL and we're reagion 1 and use NTSC. The guys did sound funny. The people in UK do use refrigerators too and they live in houses just like us but they're built differently.

Well, for one thing, I personally don't like the movie. I'm an American and really, I just got done giving a long speech about my feelings towards people who portray us badly such as yourself. Please refrain from animations such as this. And another, the voice acting was terrible; I'm not a flash artist, and I don't know how hard it is to create voice-overs and stuff, but I do know that you should make sure all is well before submitting something like this. The animation is decent from what I can tell at least... The sound, well, no comment... I gave a 1 for humor because I partially smiled at it... But that's it.

The only problem I had with this one was that it was really portraying Southern Americans, which are the people other Americans make fun of.

The lip sync in some places was just plain awful. In some instances the guy's mouth kept going several seconds after the voiceover stopped.
not really on the matter of the film but I might as well spurt it out: I'm a Swede who's been living in London and let me tell you the number 1 prejudice about English people we have in Sweden: They're ugly. During my one year in the UK, I was disappointed to find this to be true. If you see a good-looking girl in the UK, she's either Scandinavian or Indian. Yeah, and you actually do have pretty bad teeth, sorry, but it's true. Plus, you're quickly becoming Europe's fattest people (after the Italians, was it?).
Also, a few quick and broad generalisations about Americans (which I've known a bunch and even called some of them friends): They ARE condescending but except for that really nice, a lot more friendly than English people. What's weird about them is that they're like completely nice people but when you start asking them about their political views they tell you they wanna bomb every child and woman in Afghanistan, that if you're pro-abortion you should be shot in the head, that believing in God is the most important thing there is, etc... The only entirely normal American guy I've met lived in Japan... and he was FAT. hehe. OK so I know most people reading this review are American and not necessarily as I described them but whatever. Just my five cents.

Everyone is writing hateful reviews about this. I like to say one thing. This kind of humor is used in shows like the simpsons and you all laugh at it. Just because someone is making fun of somebody doesn't mean he means it. When people do stuff about Iraq and you all give it 4's and 5's, isn't that stereotyping? The sound wasn't so bad but I felt I was watching an Old School Kung Fu movie with the words not corrolating with the visual images of the people speaking... The flash was alright, it wasn't as bad as awhole lot of offended people are making it out to be. People are saying it is racist. For one, America isn't a race, it's a country. Secondly don't be so easily offended, it's just a little joke. There was another flash that made front page if I remember correctly, it made fun of Australians, in somewhat the same way this flash makes fun of Americans, I know there were probably alot of Australians who would have commented on that animation, but they didn't get cut/hurt about it.
Seriously, it was really freaking horrible. The sound wasn't synced with what was going on AT ALL, and it was completely devoid of humour. . .I couldn't even bother finishing it. It was killing too many of my brain cells. :x
