2004: This film comes in two halves, the trailer then the prelude that leads straight into the first episode. Appologies on the filesize.

"Some good bits, some not-so-good bits"

date: December 18, 2004

On the whole, that was great. I like the way you've merged pre-rendered video with flash, that must take some serious work! Also, the fight scenes are animated brilliantly, I could swear you motion captured them.

My only real criticisms would be that some of the scenes seemed a bit slow (particularly in the prelude). Sometimes characters would finish their lines, and then there'd be this silence while they waited for the next scene. Also, the voices were drowned out by the music at points, but that didn't matter too much as the subtitles helped :)
Those are the only bad points I can think of really. I would moan about it being yet ANOTHER stick flash, but the quality of everything else is so high I don't think it matters at all.

Looking forward to the full version!

Author's Response:

We had some fight scenes filmed by a group of Taekwon-do black belts, and used the footage to assit animation, the easiest way to do a frame by frame account of such presicion was to limit the detail of characters, hence the stickmen. On a film less revolved around action, we would have gone with fully drawn characters (this series totals 60 minutes, hell of a lot to fully draw!)

"Worth watching"

date: December 18, 2004

I hate stick animation, but I love storylines like this. I have to say this is the only Stick animation series I would deem worth watching. Moving on, the music in this is used brilliantly! I really can't fault that at all. The storyline (of the prelude) sets the scene for some very good work, I'm also very impressed the author actually bothered to get some info about martial arts from a Tai quan doe (is that how you spell it?) group (as said in one of their author comments).

(Apologies for any errors in spelling or grammar)

Author's Response:

Thanks for your comments! SO MUCH effort has been put into the plot, and churning it out in as best an animation as possible. I agree that stick movies are never really in-depth enough to make for great viewing but the hope is that this series can break the stereotype. Its Taekwon-do hehe but i'm sure you knew that :P
