This is a new special series entitled "The Mask of Victor Graves", a short two or three part cartoon comprised of excerpts from the upcoming "The Boy in the Box", which reveals the harsh history of Victor Graves, a.ka. Dr. Shroud.

While this part still appears in "The Boy in the Box", I felt that it was self-containing and long enough to warrant a series of its own. Plus, I felt that it was too long between series, so here is a little something in the meantime.

Awesome

This really had that Old horror flick feel to it. I really liked the style you used it was very good. I think the music used was ok, but I think you could have chossen something a little bit better.
When things were set on fire the flames looked to be in front of them, not really on them. Other than that I thought you did a great job with this

Today's been a good day for the portal...

This is reminicent of the old silent films from the 20s (obviously). The story is told easily and the animation (the lighting especially) fit perfectly.

It did hit a few snags where it just seemed to drag along (dwelt too much on the photo and a few other places).

Not exactly sure about vampire lore, but I can't say I ever heard of turning a vampire child into a human... A dampiel(sp?) is a half-vampire/half-human...

Mah... not enough on that train of plot for me to make any conclusive comments.

robfeldman responds:

You are correct---a "dhampir" is a product of a vampire man and mortal woman that has an immunity to vampires. In the world of Dr. Shroud however, all bets are off. There are quite a few things with vampire lore that I altered to fit the story better, especially the fact that the boy (Dr. Shroud) is a bloodsucking killer.

Thanks for the review!

Pretty good animation

It was good how you used the style of olden day movies, but the music you used to play throughout was a bit too annoying, kinda put a happy mood into all of it, it had good animation throughout it and i cant wait til part 2 comes out, just try using different movie and try and give it more of a spooky feel to it

Well

Contrary to what some people may think, I believe there should be more of this noir style around here. If there's anything that's overdone, it's the superloud, limp-bizkit playing, stick-figure fight sequences and dating sims. I think your style was very well done, and the actual animation was pretty pleasurable. Your story was pretty cool too. I'll be pretty happy to see more of these.

Good but some things to fix

Fix the music it is annoying and sometimes completely doesnt fit the graphics. The animation is awesome, very smooth and simple, although the flashing, old film quality began to mess with my eyes! Great story, I actually want to see the next in the series to find out how the boy gets his revenge. Good work, hope this makes front page.
