Ghost Motel 8: Virtual Reality Training

Game Programmer: Istvan Orosi
Art/Animation: Violet-AIM
Joseph voice: XwaynecoltX
Instructor voice: Onic51346

Quick Instructions (for more info, look in flash)

"Ctrl" = Attack with Sword
"Shift" = Block with Shield
"up arrow" = jump
"left arrow" = move left
"right arrow" = move right
"q" = change quality for slow computers
"m" = turn music on/off

There are 5 total levels to play, but in order to play level 5, you must collect 20 blue crystals (5 blue crystals per level).

Ep.8 is different because it is a "game", unlike the usual interactive puzzle solving story. Hope you guys like it!

"And Now We Plunge"

date: June 8, 2009

This game was annoying. You decided to take a shot at a platformer and you didn't please. First off I want to talk about the controls, you say "Ctrl" to use your sword, it would've been nice if you told us to hold down Ctrl to use the sword. Now then when it comes to the game the first three levels aren't bad the only thing are the regular enemies that walk on the ground. Common logic says when you hit an enemy it shows pain and stops moving, but not the common enemies in this game they just keep on hitting you showing no pain of getting hit by a sword. Also let's talk about Level 4. It's cheap, at the beginning of the level you are automatically taking hits from a flying dragon coming from the left side of the screen and are being shot at from the right, that's real fair isn't it, just start draining away a player's life like that and they not even know it... with that said the placement of the enemies was badly done and this should have been a side-scroller instead of just pop-up into the next screen because the placement of some of your enemies made it hard to know whether or not you would get hit and sometimes you would get hit and not even know it, I died two times this way in this game. The jumping and running are good, but the sword was my only problem and that's not the game's fault it's your fault for not giving us proper instructions. It's not a bad idea for a platformer, but it was executed poorly.

"I was wrong"

People can come up with the stupidest things. I'm not saying the whole series bad. Not even close in fact.

This game is really annoying. Who came up with something like that?

"Nice game"

Not the best in the world, but then again, I'm not really sure what sort of platform you're aiming for with this game. You're giving us the details on Joseph learning to be a Demon Hunter and this is basically his progress in the training from the theroy on toward the practical work.

The lip sync needs some work, as the voice for Matt was a new addition and wasn't compensated for within the animation.

I think that the gameplay was good, but I am struggling on the methods to defeat the bosses at the end of the levels, as I couldn't find any special moves for Joseph, despite what I was taught about the power of love for fighting demons and the only weapon I had was a sword - granted, all weapons are equally powerful, but this seemed like I couldn't get onto that particular level of skill. Maybe I was missing something, so I'll have to revisit at some point.

"Great."

Your ability to keep adding to your series with such high quality is to be commended. I like how it carried it from the prior episode well, and was coherent with the story line. It was a nice platformer and played very well. The projectiles from some of the enemy's did not come from the mouth but the top of their head, apart from that, very good. Keep up the good work.

Kind regards -
Sirtom93.

"Good platformer"

date: January 2, 2009

This is a good platform/jump 'n' run game. It's quite a nice change from the other episodes.

The graphics are very nice and the level layout is very interesting. It's good that I have to go back serveral screens to be able to reach the blue crystals sometimes. This increases the difficulty level of the game a bit. Otherwise it would be too easy I guess.

However, the end bosses are a bit too hard because if they hit me/run through me I am not able to hit them. It's a bit annoying to run after the boss of level 1 and if I get a bit too close to him I got hit and lose energy.

Also, the lip syncing wasn't done that good this time. The voice already finished the text and the speech bubble didn't even show the rest of the text. This should've been looked over before submitting this to the portal.
