It was kinda spiffy. I got what you were trying to get at.
But as a suggestion, if you're going to do something "hypnotic" is best to run the animation as smooth as you can. You can get this by pumping up the framerate of the timeline. Setting it to around 30fps gives you a movie-type quality, and the shapes won't jump so much like it did on octagon.
Even if you are doing simple shape tweens, you can boost it up to 60fps and it will be so smooth that most human eyes can acknowledge the spaces between shapes in their frames.
Boredom is a strange thing.
