EXMORTIS - THE STORY SO FAR:
You wake up in the woods with no memory of how you got there. Nightmares of blood and screams still echo through your mind. It's late and it's cold - unless you can find shelter fast, you won't last the night. You spot a house in a clearing up ahead and left with no choice - you decide to shelter there for the night. Soon afteryou begin to realise that death is a welcome choice compared to what lies waiting for you inside...

Revision V1.1 - Changes were made to actionscript for the triggering of the cellardoor. Explanation below may include game spoilers!
*** SPOILERS ***
I have altered the actionscript for triggering the cellar door. You must trigger the first 4 symbol closeups, read all 3 books and interact with Gwen to access the cellar door. I have obtained the above conditions in every possible sequence after testing last night and I am yet to fail to access the cellar door with this revision. Hopefully this will fix the "bug" a lot of people are mentioning in reviews.

This is my first Flash game, having only taught myself flash only a year ago. I wanted to create an atmospheric game with decent graphics as I have played so many flash games that kick ass with puzzles, but never pay attention to graphics and atmosphere. Unfortunately it was a situation where I had to make up the story as I went along creating it - so bits and pieces are kind of patched together here and there. If I had the time or the energy, I'd do a few things differently to improve interaction in the game - but I think that in its current form it achieves what I set out to do. Scare the living hell out of everyone. So play this in a dark room with the sound turned up for maximum scare-factor!
Note - the loading might take a while on slower machines - sorry about that, but the quality of the sounds involved were important to me. I only sacrificed the minimum amount of quality that would get the size down under the 5mb limit.
For those of you who just want a quick and easy game, I have posted a walkthrough... I have seen mirrors of it though, so maybe try googling "Exmortis Walkthrough"
Enjoy!
Ben.

Oh my God I'm still shaking!
Oh wow, that had to be the scariest game I've ever played! I had to turn it off because I was about to wet myself! >_<; Jeeze you're talented with this sorta stuff! You should get into screenplay writing!

Great game!
However, you should maybe have a "map" type thing, where people can "warp" to areas they have already been to. That fading out thing takes so long.
