I apologized to Dave about a few things I said, but I still don't like salad fingers. I got nothing against the guy personally and he knows it now.
As for you fans taking this personally, I want to see your flashes of me being shat upon or whatever.. Sounds funny :p
....and people say I've got too much spare time.
Heard all unintelligent reviews? heres a smart 1.
Ok, let's first pick at the Author Comments.
Now, for someone that would want to be friends with another... that is a truly odd way to show it. Grant it, most friends call each other names and such, but what friend would take a lighter and burn the other's drawings to cinders? And ya, I can imagine he'd use multiple accounts to blam this, I think I'd join in the cause. Now you go as far as to say you did this for yourself?... If that's true, why submit it to Newgrounds? So others can see your apparent disgust? If that's the cause you never did it for yourself... did you?
Review on the flash:
Nothing all to really say here. My own personal disgust on this tasteless, childish display could be read on how I responded to your comment. Though I have to give SOME credit to you. At least you drew Salad Fingers right, and have your friend ALMOST sound like him, unlike other series related hate-flashes I've seen.
You miss the point. I set off making this flash knowing that I would learn something new about flash, not that I want to be popular on newgrounds or entertain you. I did it mostly as a learning experience, you see. I learned new ways to animate, how to better manage my layers and whatnot, lotsa neat stuff. I only uploaded it to newgrounds to get a rise out of people.. seems i did a good job if you ask me.
...Jesus Fuckin' Christ
I don't really feel that strongly about Salad Fingers, unlike you, apparently. But this movie sucked. You animated a generic guy wish a gun shooting someone else's character. Oh, and then you drew a dog pissing on him. How witty! I mean, Salad Fingers is definitely a series that could be parodied to hilarious effect, but...well, unfortunately, you're an astoundingly un-funny individual, to the point where I'm only assuming it was supposed to be humorous, because I don't know what the hell else it could be.
...oh, and if you only made this movie "for yourself", then why'd you upload it to newgrounds, and act really defensive about it?
I act defensively because people claim my animation is shitty. However, I'm well aware that these people are only saying so out of spite, as I've been told otherwise by people who actually have a concept of what goes into a decent animation sequence.
P.S. Of course it could have been wittier. You must amaze everyone with your powers of deduction.
Sarcasm is a tool for the scared and misinformed
I wonder why if you think "Salad Fingers" is so awful and the animator and creator is so horrid why take so much time out of your day to make an insignifigant and utterly awful "cartoon" ? These things are made for the enjoyment of other people and so David Firth can express his rather brillant albeit morbid talent. Maybe you should get a life?
your animation wasn't half bad, and i guess you set out what you were supposed to do.. anyways uhmm thats about it
I am not averse to parody, even if (and sometimes especially if!) it skewers something I find interesting or amusing. I am not even averse to cartoon violence. And if this cartoon had the capacity to inspire me to outrage or anger or SOMETHING, I'd be down with that. But basically it left me with a feeling of "Huh. Kinda lame."
The idea of slaying an iconic figure can be a good one, when done in a surprising, sincere or creative manner (I recall the classic hilarious 10 second long "Bambi vs. Godzilla" cartoon, for example!) But there weren't any elements of surprise, creativity or sincerity as far as I was able to discern. Perhaps, as the animator's skills expand, he'll find his own voice and create something that provokes a genuine feeling, or has a point to convey.
