It's pretty short, but each level is filled with enemies, blocks, and coins. You will also be competing for the highest rank, based on kills, coins, and your score. Enjoy my game, and please review constructively.

Awesome game
I have to say this is one of the best sprite games on newgrounds. Keep up the good work.

Not bad...
I really didn't get that far due to poor hit detection, laziness, and especially the stupid "hot keys" window popping up while I was fighting the boss. I mean wtf is up with that?
The game itself wasn't too bad for a first game, in fact for a first game it was great. That doesn't mean it didn't pretty much suck. I mean come on, it was boring, and we all know Mario jumps higher than that. Make the screens a tad bigger next time and not so close-up to the characters. They looked all pixelated and junk. Keep plugging away, you'll get it eventually.
So says Dr. "Mario" Manhattan...

For a first game, this was really good!
It satill ran slow on my computer, espeically the last level, evne in low quality mode, but there are certain optimizations you can make which you will learn to do as you make more games. The collision detectiona dn perhaps the play control needs a bit of touching up, too. And this is the first Mario game i've ever seen with no extra lives and no timer!
To be honest, I've never myself made a Flash game before (barely even made any animations, just website interfaces...) so I am not entirely sure of what exactly can be done ot make things work faster. Overall it was a good game though, and I liked it. I played for a good 45 minutes but I couldn't get past the last boss (no spoilers ;-) )

Excellent first attempt.
There are a few scripting errors, suh as if you inch along the screen, the bad guys will stay on the outside edge and won't move until you get closer. Also, mario falls too slow after his jump and it's awkward floating down.
It's also very very easy to get the starman/mario rank every level, it's just a matter ofkilling all the guys which appear pretty linear.
The bosses were pretty clever, but easy, my first try i got to level 3. The graphics were 16 bit, easy enough, and good enough for the game.
The scripting was done very very well on the most part, but the kick didn't really mean anything, and coins have little purpose too. some items like the mushroom, fire flower, etc would've been nice too.
The sound effects were kind of annoying as each enemy had the same 'splat sound' and crunch sound, but the music was good.
In the end, this was worthwhile and fun. I applaud you on a well made game and i am glad you stuck to it. Great first game. keep working hard and improving.
