Here's my tribute to the first Mega Man game I played: Mega Man II. Many thanks for all the support!

Background info about submission

This one took some blood and sweat, but I'm glad I finished it through. I decided to create this short after purchasing a digital drawing pad. I was dying to put my new toy to work and decided on doing a Mega Man short.

I veered away from my usual twisted humor and decided to make something that more NG peeps could appreciate. After some storyboarding, I started animating. This was truly a learning experience artistically and flash-wise. As you may notice, some scenes will look sharper than others. I also realize that some Mega Man elements are mixed (i.e. Mega Man X sound effects and Mega Buster weapon) but think of it as artistic liberties. Also, lots of people have complained about Mega Man's bleeding disorder. :) Again, I didn't think it would hamper the whole flash, but apparently it did for some. I'll definately reconsider that if I do another one.

Either way I hope you Mega Man fans are appeased and you general users are intrigued.

Also FYI, Martin Lastra is my favorite uncle who introduced me to Mega Man when I was a wee lad. Ain't that heartwarming?

Anyway, enjoy the movie.

I still love this thing. Megaman is the best.

Yep, this is certainly a great cartoon! I guess some animation doesn't quite hold up, but it's still awesome. It's mostly because of how well you treat the mythos. This really does seem like the perspective taken from the actual game. Granted, it would never get this bloody. It's loyal to its design.

The bosses don't have that much personality to a lot of people. You showed the expressions so well in this. It was quite unpredictable. My favorite part was when he was changing colors. The tension is built up so well there.

Decent choreography in the scenes but the animation was terrible and inconsistent... lighting effects were off, some scenes looked flat, animation of limbs was just abysmal.

Inconsistencies to the series:

- Why is Mega Man's head modeled after his X upgrade? That's an entirely different series.
- Mega Man isn't a MAN, he's a robot. Why is he bleeding?
- Why is he panting and getting tired? He's a robot.
- He doesn't grow muscles when he charges up his Mega Buster... it's just a charged shot, not everything as to be a DBZ reference.
- He can't use two abilities at a time meaning he couldn't have planted a Crash Bomb on Quick Man's forehead while using the Flash Stopper.

It had everything you could ask for in a John Woo movie, which at the time of posting this video were all the rage but it falls flat due to poor animation and inconsistency to the universe of Mega Man. It's sad that this is voted so highly... if this is the best Mega Man can get on NewGrounds he truly is dead.
