After talking with others on the forums, I decided to try my hand at a tutorial. This is just a method I use for shading and adding highlights. I tried to make it easy to follow and understand.

good but i got a question
how do i put alpha into shading/coloring whatever...if you could tell me i owuld be very happy haha
When you select the colour that you use for the shading, in the colour mixer, which I find helpful to keep open, there is 4 adjusters... ones for red (R), green(G), blue(B) and the bottom one is the Alpha. With the colour selected, just adjust the alpha, and you will then have a transparent colour. In fact, I have 50% and 25% of both white and black saved in the default palette, so they will be always there. I also find, have a decent skin colour saved as well, if you draw people, and will save you trying to recreated the colour each time you work on something new. My skin colour's R:G:B is 247:206:183. It's easyly adjustable to fit your taste. Note..this is skin colour of someone white. (weird how it's called white, but the colours used is pinkish) Hope this helps.

Awesome Tutorial!
As a newbie to the Flash scene who is working on his first project I found this tutorial very helpful. The idea of using shading and highlights hadn't even ocurred to me. What you showed me to do is very simple yet constructive. I'll probably be utilizing the very techniques you taught me on this first project. Thanks so much for the help, and I hope you create more of these.

now here is one great tutorial. i loved it. It was simple and easy to understand, without any of that goobledey crap that no 1 can understand. it was straight forward, and was very informative and helpful. and the little movies that showed you how to do it made it very easy for every1 to understand. excellent job.
