The hidden messages in Burning Down the House!

One day, whilst running some tape backwards on an editing deck, Jerry Cheadle happened across David Byrne's talking head in his music video, saying what sounded like "I am an asshole, am I?" I came in later, and together we interpreted the whole song!

This backwards-interpretation of Burning Down the House was a favourite part of our old fan-dub collection along with Fast Food Freedom Fighters. Unlike the other old projects, this one was ideally suited to a Flash translation, as the visuals were (and still are) entirely text. For the record, neither Jerry nor I really believe that there were any intentional hidden messages in this song.

That was definately odd lol but still cool. It worked out so well that I'm tempted to believe that it was intended to be played backwards. I mean, a lot of people were playing shit backwards in the 80's so maybe they were counting on people to do it.

Then again....maybe backwards words in English can sound like any number of words given how the listener interprets it.

Dunno, but this was still cool =P
