"Unintentional humor"
date: May 27, 2004
I'm spending this review to explain what made me laugh on a flash that was 100% serious. If my taking this movie a bit lighter offends you and/or anyone else, I apologize, but I need to let you in on how I saw it for it was what was going through my mind while viewing where the humor came in.
**spoilers for those who haven't seen this (darn habit)**
I knew from the phone call it was gonna be a suicide piece. I look on at him slitting his wrist. Then I see him down the pills and I'm thinking, "Did he miss the vein in the wrist or something?" Then I see the first person view of him walking in the hall towards a window and in my mind I'm wondering if he's gonna jump out the window now. The knife and pills didn't work? Jump out the window. Bet that won't work. Let's try sticking the head in an oven.... while whacking the cranium repeatedly with a couple frying pans. Nope? Ok. Drown in the toilet, noose on a potted plant hook, dive into oncoming traffic? Any of those working? Why can't he die?
This, BTW, would've also made a nice flash and if I had any talent, I'd make it and you'd get credit for the influence.
Anyways, that's the explanation. The sequence and camera angles got my mind to wonder and chuckle.
